    Inject a little Fun

    Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 4:15 AM

An on-line friend and Ihave recently been chatting about her D&D charater Belladonna. She's a Gnome Cleric who worships amushroom goddess and who has a potion tasting compulsion. This got me thinking about all the pcs I'd played and played with and not enough of them had this sense of fun. All to many people take gaming far to seriously (unless they're playing Kendar). So it has now become my quest to inject this kind of fun to the characters I play with. When writing up a new pc or going throught the process with others I shall encourage others to add these quircks to add a little fun. Every one should do this, you never know, It might lead you somewhere fun.

    Quests or Dungeon Delve?

    Monday, February 22, 2010, 3:58 AM

As the time comes to start a new D&D group from mostly amateures, I have got to wondering and pondering the best way to get my new pc's hooked. I have always, as a player, loved deep emersion story telling. The quests linking into a campaign, campaign into one huge story arc documenting the rise and fall of many hero's. But to first timers need all that? I happened across my old copy of the miniatures hand book and took to reading the dungeon delve section and all its ideas about simple dungeons crammed full of monsters (sometimes randomly so) and racing around trying to keep ahead of the wandering nasties whilst trying to find the boss monster ot collecting magic statues to beat the dungeon. It reminded me of my veryfirst forays into the D&D world and how exciting it had been playing the games straight of its box. No back story. Plenty of action. I was hooked! So I put it to you gentle reader, If you were just taking your first tentative steps into the beutiful game, what would you prefer?

    Boxed sets

    Friday, February 19, 2010, 5:33 AM

Its been a while since I last used this site and whilst browsing the upcoming releases I happened across two gems that nearly made my heart burst whith joy. these being Castle Ravenloft and Dragonfire Dundeon. Two boxed sets that will be bursting with mini's and dungeon tiles! I have been collecting D&D on and off for about 15 years and the excitement I get from opening a boxed set full of booklets, manuals, maps and mini's has never left me. The first set I ever bought was First Quest and it was awesome it even came with a cd full off little plot info and pc chat. It was amazing. Does anyone else remember it? A friend of mine recently found a copy in his new flat tucked away in a corner of his loft and it was in perfect condition minus the cd. If anyone reading this has a copy would they be willing to do a copy of it for me? It would make me very happy to take this walk down memory lane. Also, long may the trend of these boxed sets continue> the 4th edition set was such a dissapointment when it came with only cardboard counters and whilst the adventures in side were great fun to play it didn't have the same magic to it that the older sets did.
