Welcome to my baby. The world on which Hauthaven resides was originally just a single adventure I cooked up to see what I could do with 3rd Edition of Dungeons and Dragons. From this rather standard little goblin infested romp through the mountains, it quickly grew into a very unique world. If you're looking for a world where the Gods take a more hands-on aproach to things, where heroes and villians are many times larger than life, and where there are vast amounts of unexplored wilderness just lying around to be discovered, then you've come to the right place. Welcome to Hauthaven. City. Kingdom. God.

This is a world relatively new to the standard player races. Just two and a half millennia ago a group of gods, now faded from reality, brought the varied races (good and evil) to this world to escape a great cataclysm that nearly destroyed their home world. Vast armies of undead led by an evil undead being of unbelievable power conquered every land, sea, and even the heavens. This terrible creature killed and absorbed many of the pantheons native to that world. With the last of their power, the remaining deities opened a rift through which the surviving mortals could flee. A great battle was fought at the Godsrift, while everyone fled through the gate. Many heroes were lost. With the last bit of life left in them, the gods sealed the breach.

The mortals were left alone, bereft of the great powers they has depended on to guide their daily lives. Many religions died out. Some priesthoods managed to convert themselves into a more nature oriented belief system, as this world was to their knowledge unspoiled by mortal hands. They started worshipping the great beasts that prowled the wilderness. However, most people clung to their old gods. Much culture, tradition, and a great many customs were lost in the chaos of rebuilding on the new world.

2,500 years later, the Overdeities who reside over all things in the multiverse decided that this world needed it's own pantheon. So they chose a mortal on which to bestow the power to raise champions to Godhood. This avatar of the greatest powers in the universe had no control over who or what he would grant his boon. When a worthy being was encountered, the Great Ones would seize control of him, and pose the question to the prospective godling. Many times during the adventures of this young avatar and his friends they encountered strange creatures and beings who would today be known as gods.

Thirty years later: Present Day.
