CAPTAIN'S LOG FROM THE WAVECARVER
Captain Lydia Taralan recorded her log in a magic hand mirror, which the heroes find in her cabin. The last entries of the log are summarized here.
Lendys 1475 – Evan has tasked me with delivering a cargo to our base on Zirrian—a consignment of dragon eggs that somehow slipped past the quartermaster’s inspection. We’ll also be bringing aboard a passenger, a genasi exile from Quelenon who’s integral to the success of Operation Flotsam.
Lendys 1475 – For reasons I can’t fathom, Evan has tasked the Rusty Hook with escorting us to Zirrian. That drunken pig Wyrne can’t keep his big mouth shut. It’s a wonder the whole city doesn’t know about the dragon eggs!
Lendys 1475 – The Wavecarver played host to Xan Arahaji, but she didn’t find our guest accommodations to her liking. I can’t say I went out of my way to please her. She’s opted to remain at House Inzul for the duration of her stay in Io’galaroth. Just as well. I find myself distracted by Captain Wyrne, who’s under the impression that Evan has tasked HIM with delivering the catastrophic dragon eggs to Zirrian, with the Wavecarver running escort. He is mistaken.
Lendys 1475 – The genasi, Xan, is quite a tempestuous little witch. She treats us like underlings and speaks of Evan like an equal. She refers to his fleet as “our fleet.” Once we have the eggs and the Ritual of Ilgaarth’s Doom, I’m hoping she will have outlived her usefulness.
Lendys 1475 – Bloody hell! There’s been an incident at the secret warehouse in Io’galaroth. One of the eggs has been destroyed, and it’s all Wyrne’s fault! That slug will ruin everything given half a chance. Because of his incompetence, Xan refuses to let either of us transport the remaining eggs. She’s made alternate arrangements with Sirizan Inzul. Evan is going to be furious.
Lendys 1475 – Evan has recalled Wyrne to Zirrian and tasked me with hunting down the people responsible for the destruction of the dragon egg. I almost feel sorry for Wyrne. Almost.
Lendys 1475 – Our quarry is the hammership Morkoth, a Deeplantern Guild vessel. Its new crew has powerful connections in Io’galaroth, but beyond that, they’re a mystery. They’re making preparations to leave the city. We will follow them, gather information, learn what we can, and report.
Lendys 1475 – The Morkoth has a new name—the Sea Star. Three days into our pursuit, it’s maintained course toward Tetherus. Evan has chosen the ships he wants to spearhead Operation Flotsam—the Piranha, the Devious, and the Grim Gale have been summoned to Zirrian. I’ve been ordered to sink the Sea Star and join the fleet at Zirrian. The Advantage took damage from Valkroi’s marauders, and Evan needs a command ship to lead the operation. The Wavecarver has been selected for that honor. I wish I could see Wyrne’s face when he finds out!
