Arcana was chosen because of its wide applicability and racial synergy. Dungeoneering was chosen because of its synergy with wisdom (a secondary ability) and because it's used in aberrant monster knowledge checks. Insight was chosen for its synergy with wisdom and because it allows you to qualify for the insightful riposte skill power. Perception was chosen because it's arguably the best skill in the game and it also has synergy with wisdom.
Training history instead of dungeoneering is a solid variation, especially if someone in your party is already trained in dungeoneering.
