This is the story of how Greypoe the Wizard started his quest in the academy, then began researching the Apothecary to continue studying this herb that he had found on the island adventure. When he returned from the island, he wanted to find out more about this herb. He knew that this plant had mystical qualities,  the smoke winds and twirls with the pattern of the energies swirling about.  The Shamans use many plants to teach them more about these natural forces, so you can take a deeper look into the smoke.  In these sets of stories Greypoe learns about the forces of nature, how to control storms and plants. And so begins the tale of a beginning scholarly wizard.

Greypoe takes a big puff off his pipe and blows out smoke, and the story begins to appear within the swirl of smoke. Then he announces that he is about to teach you a lesson in magic. The smoke swirls then fizzles as it starts a powerpoint presentation. Then the powerpoint fizzles out and tries to start it again, but has to announce that his powerpoint is broke.

I could tell you about the time I penetrated the apothecary. Thats a long story, I will save that for later.

Ok instead let me tell you about another time I had a very foolish encounter. This is the tale of The April Fools Day Curse. I was studying at the academy and preparing to convince my peers that this herb is very useful. Though, I had found that the high wizards want to keep the qualities of this plant secret. They have even succeeded in convincing the people that this plant is evil. The class elder would not let me give my speech, instead another student gave a speech about the poisionous qualities of this plant.

It was April Fool's day and I was expecting some sort of humorous magic to happen. Dare I say that if I went to that class, what would have happened. I decided not to attend. Instead I go on a quest for knowledge about this plant. I found a small shop with some very special books on the subject. This book was a compendium of many different varieties of this plant. Then I began reading it as I walked down the street.

Encounter- A group of travelers notices your book and offers to sell you some herb. You examine the herb and compare it to pictures in your book to try and determine what strain it is.

You do an intelligents check and fail, your unable to determine what strain it is.

Then a member of the group proudly tells you the strain and beckons you into a corner.  You examine the bag to assess it's weight and try to appraise the value of it. The group tells you they want $20.

You try to negotiate for $10, you do a charisma check and succeed and he agrees to take $10.  Then after handing him $10 he decides not to give you the herb. Then I continued to roll the charisma and tried to convince the group to give me the herb for $10. He failed, the group still wanted $20. Then the theif gave the $10 to another group member, telling him that he was paying him back for the small bud he had given him. Then I knew he was the leader of the pack he was much taller then this little short theif. I tried a charisma roll on him. I started telling him a story about some heroic adventure. Then as the theif saw I was winning favor he jumped over a fence and started running away. I immediately made the decision to chase him.

We ran down the alley he had higher agility and was running faster then me, but I was still keeping on a distance. I rolled a stamina check and passed and kept up with the theif. Then the theif stopped to fight. Feeling confident in my hand to hand training I charged him. The manuver failed, as the theif threw me to the ground. As I began to regain my center, he charged and threw a kick that landed in the face knocking out my two front teeth.

This was a took a major hit on my charisma, and I had to fix it. The next step was to call my uncle who was in the guild of dentistry. I couldn't even convince him that I had actually lost my two front teeth. When I finally succeeded he set me up with a new pair of teeth. Just my luck they looked like donkey teeth.

This wasn't enough I still needed to repair my charisma, because I needed it to get around. So I started developing some fragrant potions to boost my charisma, then I started selling them to members of the academa. The ladies were always charmed by my potent brews that smelled like fruits and candies. I could always charm them just long enough to sell the potions.

Stay tuned for the next edition on how I became a Rogue Scholar.

My first Adventure - A quest for island treasure

This is the story of how an ordinary boy started on the path to becomming a Wizard. One point needs to be made very clear, he is Not a wizard yet. He is still on this journey and he knows that it will be a great adventure.

On his first adventure he made a journey across the waters to a small island. On this island he met a group of 3 adventurers who were on a quest to find some healing herbs of the island. He decided to join their party, and made his first adventure.

On our first encounter we met a man hawking beads made from stones of the earth. We decided that these beads would give us a charisma bonus in dealing with the Island Natives. Since I was the new member I offered to make a deal in buying 2 necklaces. The man said he would give me a deal for $7. I check my pouch and realize that I had left my coins hidden in a room. The man told me "Don't worry bout tit, juss take the necklaces and come back with the money, I trust you." I went back to get my coins, and returned to the bead vendor. When I gave him the $7 he started shaking his beads and told me that they were worth more then that. He demanded that we pay $14 for two. The vendor must have been immune to the effects of the necklace, or perhaps the necklaces had stacked the enchantment on his vending stand, because we felt inclined to pay the $14.

Then we noticed that we had lost one of our group members. We started searching for him and we came across a game in progress. I decided to try my luck and won a bottle of rum. It looks like these necklaces were already starting to pay off. We walked down the beach with our bottle of rum, we had nearly forgotten about our party member. Then we spotted him fleeing past us, and the bead vendor was chasing after him with a machete. He had obviously decided to steal a necklace. He quickly got the attention of a local guard and told him the a man was chasing him was trying to rob him. The vendor tried to accuse him of stealing and demanded his money but the guard was not convinced and took the vendor away. We knew then that we had a rogue in the party.

We continued our search for these herbs, keeping a sharp eye out for that vendor that would be searching for our rogue who was now proudly wearing his necklace. We found a dock with a assortment of boats and seafaring equipment. We asked a fisherman if he knew where we could find some island herbs. He seemed overly pleased that we asked him this question and he told us that we could find a shaman down the beach.  He also mentioned if we came back with some herbs he would loan us some equipment.

We walked down the beach and just as the fisherman had said there was a shaman standing under the shade of some coconut trees. The shaman puffed on a cigar and blew out a cloud of smoke that enveloped us, it's pungent odor filled my nostrils. The Shaman's eyes were half open and he looked like he was ready to tell us a story. He began telling us about this herb and how it was forbidden in most lands. I remembered the warnings that I had heard from my teachers saying that it was an evil plant. The Shaman could see my fear as the cigar was being passed to me. He said, "Juss take one puff, it won't hurt you." I took it and puffed, the smoke had a spicy taste. I waited, but didn't feel any different. I looked at my party and saw that they had enjoyed it, but I had yet to understand what was so special about this herb.

The quest had been completed but our adventure was still not over. We had another objective yet to complete. We went back to the fisherman to show him our gratutide. The Shaman had given us a pouch full of green herbs, we had pleanty to share. We picked out a sailboat and pushed it off shore and we slowly started moving away from the docks. Not far off, we spotted that bead vendor. He was already in a small boat, pushing off shore with his ores. He began rowing towards us, shouting threateningly. We quickly adjusted our sails to catch the wind and sailed began speeding off. The vendor stopped rowing and held up one ore shaking it angrily, his shouts became drown out by the sound of water rushing past the end of the boat. We shouted cheers of triumph, our quest for finding the island herbs has been completed. We sailed off with a bag of loot and a bottle of rum.

This was my first quest, and the start to a great  adventure.
