A while back WotC made a trading card game called Hecatomb. They made a serialized story to promote it. I may be the only person who thinks this, but...
That game's flavor, and the associated story, were really cool!
Recently I got an urge to read it again, but it appears to be long gone from the wizards website. Does anyone know where I can find it, or anything else to do with Hecatomb's flavor?

Hey
Ten months passed, uh? Well, yeah, i remember the game, and i remember thinking the same thing! Although the gameplay itself felt a little... weird, i thought the flavor and general feeling of the game to be awesome, and the short strories were very cool! It had the feeling of that old, dusty and rugged book you find hidden in a chest, full of horror stories, and macabre and strange characters, like the Tales of the Crypt! I felt the same thing as you today, i wanted to find those stories and i ended up here! Shame they dropped the project, i don't know if it was actually playable or not, but the story and general feeling was great. They should reboot that concept into something whose production values are less expensive, or add it to the Magic the Gathering universe, creating a multiverse of it's own with the endbringers and whatnot.
But yeah, you are not alone! Unfortunately i can't help you with finding that tale, but if i do, i'll post it.
