As Pell flings the dagger, Grumo becomes immediately disgruntled. I had forgotten how unstable these guys can be. Another move like that, and I'm going to gut him whether he has info or not. That dagger could just as easily been meant for Ran or one of the others.

Grumo's posture doesn't betray his thoughts, but his facial expression does. He then moves himself into a position near the front so as to best shield the others and ensure that he is within striking distance. He gives Ran a leveled disapproving look as he does. Not that it would do any good. Grumo is convinced that Ran puts himself in danger sometimes just for the excitement.

"Now that we've established neither of us be fools, Pell, maybe we can talk business, and less the dickering about steel. You'll get your money's worth, no more, no less, by my mark. And you can blacken my name to all pirates that pass your shack to your heart's content if I tell you falsely."

"We seek men. We don't know if our men's alive, truth tell, but if they be so, then they be ransom'd or they be slave'd, and the minotaurs will set port in a slave market. If you tell us truthfully, that shaves off a day or two's travel for us, maybe three. I'll give you fair share of the savings of food and provisions for those days travel. If you give us a name or contact, I'd say that saves us even more days. You can add the value of that yourself."

When Pell pulls his dagger, Ranni quickly slips hers from the sheath on her leg, making sure the movement is hidden behind Grumo. She relaxes a bit when she sees he was just spearing a cockroach, but doesn't sheath the blade just yet, instead palming it and keeping it hidden behind Grumo's back (well, his thigh at least). She eyes the still twitching cockroach thoughtfully. Pfft. Show off. I could do that, easy. Better, I could put it through his eyeball before he could blink. Or one of these annoying flies. Hmmm... She considers demonstrating on one of the many flies buzzing around the shack, but decides against it. Nah, not worth the trouble of cleaning the fly guts off the blade. Yuck! She grimaces at the thought, but doesn't let it distract her from watching Pell like a hawk.

Having abondoned the idea of spearing a fly, however, Ranni quickly becomes bored. She heaves a sigh, then almost gags from the stench. Gah! It smells worse than Uncle Bitto's feet in here. Doesn't this guy ever bathe? She eyes Pell for a moment. I don't think he's going anywhere, and my friends can handle him if he tries anything. And Ran seems to have the questioning well in hand. I think I'll just slip out the door and keep an eye out for trouble...outside. Still hidden behind Grumo, she quietly slides her dagger back in its sheath, then slips out the door.

Whew! Much better out here. She finds a likely perch that allows her to see as much of the surrounding area as possible, then settles down to wait for her friends to finish, her eyes constantly scanning for any sign of trouble.

Travok also tensed whent he cripple whipped out a dagger and threw it more or less at Ran. He wonders at the drunken stupidity of the man for doing such a thing when he is obviously in the midst of trained fighters and that single act could cost him his life. He figures the man is just beyond caring and would welcome the end. But if that is the case, why not just end it himself?

If his info is good and I live through this I will try to come back and help this poor man. There has to be something that can be done even if it is just making him some mobile chair or something.
Wash: "Yeah well, if she doesn't give us some extra flow from the engine room to offset the burn through, this landing is gonna get pretty interesting."

Mal: "Define interesting."

Wash: "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?"

Mal: "This is the captain. We have a...little problem with our engine sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then...explode."

Pell scratches a hand through his matted beard as he consider's Ran's words carefully. After a moment he nods, "Fair'nough I suppose," he pauses a moment to hawk loudly and spit into the corner of the shack, "If yer friends was taken alive, then like as not they be headed fer the auction block. An' unless I missed me guess, the minotaurs'll be headin fer Dragons Point on the coast o'Kern. Small port it is, not even a proper town at the docks, gotta travel a bit inland to find the market. Hard to find an dangerous as an angry shark, mark my words ye'll need strong nerves to enter that place," the old pirate regards the group for a moment and snorts, "By the look of you lot, ye'll have trouble finded the place without a guide. I'd help ye out but I 'ave....pressing finacial matters to attend to here," he grins, revealing two rows of yellowed, crooked teeth. Its a rather obvious play for more steel, offering to lead the group to Dragon's Point for the right Price.

Despite his appearance and attitude, the group can not deny that having someone along who knows the waters and the habits of their enemies might be worth the coin, but ultimatly it is their decision to make.

Ran raises a single eyebrow. "I speak plainly. The coin won't do you much good if you're dead. I can't vouch for your well being once we land. You would be on your own. I can understand your wish to be out to sea once more. Just be honest to yourself where that journey will end."

Anger flashes in Pell's eyes at Ran's words. Leaning forward he growls, Mark me boy, I fear no man or beast in this world. An' the loss of me legs aint made me soft nor yella," he reaches down and retrieves his dagger from the floor, wipeing off the dead roach and stowing the weapon away beneath his rags, "I can still handle myself just fine," obviously Pell's pride has been wounded.

Easy no. I don't think he was saying you couldn't defend yourself or that you were scared. He is just one who likes to make sure a person knows what they are getting into.

Personally I think it would be handy to have you along on the trip. You know the area we are heading into and can answer question and give advice as we encounter things.

Not one to speak out of turn when Ran is in command, Grumo eases towards his captain and whispers to him.

It's up to you, sir, but I'm sure that I can still do my job plus the job of one or two others. Though, it has been a while since we've been at sea ourselves.

Grumo then inadvertently glances down at Ran's leg and grimaces.

If it pleases you, sir, I can pick up any slack where Pell falls behind. I would say we could leave him in quarters, but I doubt he's going to want to be aboard and not have something useful to do. I can't promise, though, that if his daggers go flying like that again...well I don't think he could swim too well in that state.

Ran doesn't look too happy. There's a reason one doesn't see legless sailors on ships, just as there was a reason the man wasn't on a ship right now. He turns to Grumo. "We'll talk about that later." He turns to Pell. "I aint say'ing you're onboard yet, but I'll give you fair consideration. Come next morning we'll pay you another visit. When we do, you best be sober. I run a clean crew." He turns to the others. "If you have other questions, feel free to ask him. I've what I want to know. He's earned his coin."

Ran's next plans is to find a ship... and find if there is anyone else who can accurately tell the coast of Dragon's Point.
