Ku'dal was my brother. The chief Druid of the eastern tribe who live amongst the elves. They guarded the worldseed for a generation, but as is our tradition it must be passed on to another tribe to be guarded for the next generation. The worldseed was on it's way here. but is impossible for anyone outside the tribes to have known of it's transport. The chest that contained it protected it from divination. It's location has been secret for decades. Only the chief elders know for sure where it is kept or moved.

Elder Ku'chalk, I am sorry for the loss of your brother. I fear he is amongst the first to fall in a wave of fire and destruction that seems to be part of many prophecies. If it is impossible for an outsider to know of the time and means of transport for the Worldseed, then we must assume that there are traitors amongst the tribes.

Leander pauses to let the words sink in.

Even now someone here may be preparing to betray us. We must gain what wisdom you may grant us, and move on before we can be caught by the forces against us. (Diplomacy 30)

Leander motions for Kryden to go outside and check the perimeter for eavesdroppers.

Roll intimidate

Also, Intimidation is a standard action, you will have to spend an action point if you also want to steal his sword.

Jonathan will accompany Krydan outside and help search for anybody around

Did Ku'Chalk get to examine the seed, or did Kryden snatch the acorn away and leave?

ETA: Oh, oops. I guess Kryden didn't actually post his actions for himself yet :D

Might want to roll Stealth and Perception there, buddy. Save the DM from asking for it by rolling likely relevant rolls in advance!

Following Leander's direction, Kryden puts the acorn back in its hiding spot and steps outside with Jonathan. Did you see Ku'Chalk practically drool over the acorn when he saw it? This place may not be as safe as Durin thinks.

Kryden keeps a lookout while trying not to attract attention. Stealth 34, Active Perception 14. Passive perception is 21, but I will keep making additional active perception checks on the lookout.

Durin, astonished at Kryden, stands beak agape for a moment.

Such disrespect like I’ve never seen! How dare he!? Then watching him disappear. He must know he cannot hide from the forest itself. We need cooperation, not suspicion.

Durin starts to get very angry, but remembers Leander’s words. We must assume there is a traitor among us. But Ku’Chalk? Try as he might, Durin simply cannot understand it, but with supreme (for him) restraint, he composes himself and places his trust in Kryden for the moment.

There had better be a good explanation for this.

Durin continues, trying his best to hide his embarrassment and annoyance.

Elder, I don’t know what’s gotten into my friend. He is skittish by nature, and he is very protective of the acorn, and for good reason from what you told us. I hope it’s enough to know that we possess it and that you will be available to aid us as we progress on our mission.

Can I count on the tribe?

Just so it's clear I made my comment to Jonathan after we went outside and were out of Ku'Chalk's presence, though Durin may have stuck his head out and overheard me.

He doesn't have stats finished yet, I specifically told him to just post without any rolls for now.

Ku'chalk is shocked by Kryden's actions. What? You refuse to relinquish the seed to me? I am the rightful guardian, it was on the way here when it was intercepted! My brother died protecting the seed! I would never betray him. As Ku'chalk speaks the daylight grows dimmer and the room grows hotter. A strange acidic smell fills the air.

Durin's and Leander words calm the Elder's rage. Ku'chalk lets out a deep breath, and unclenches his fists. The light returns to the room. (nice diplomacy roll Leander)Yes, you are right. We cannot keep the seed here anyway. It's location would be quickly found out without any protection from scrying. He starts to pace the room again. In fact, I think you should leave tomorrow morning. I will craft a new vessel for the seed to protect it from the eyes of our enemies. I will send our warriors out tomorrow to seek the precious materials I will need. And I will find out who is the traitor amongst us. You must do as you already planned, keep moving, do not dwell in one place for two nights in a row. Hopefully these ruins your master Enral described will hide your presence for a while as well.

As to the laylines and the fountain of Nature, I can offer little council. The fountain has been used in powerful rituals in the past, but it's location lost. I was not aware of the other nexuses. These experiments done by the wizard who built the tower there sound most unnatural and perverted, I would not trust the sorcerers of this "wizard academy".

Do not worry Durin, no matter what happens, we are still your family here.

Ku'chalk's rage is genuine. You're pretty sure he did not participate in any plans to steel the seed.

@ Flax: I'm simply responding to the snatching away of the seed. As far as I'm concerned, Durin didn't overhear (or try to overhear) anything once you left.

Elder, we will never forget the sacrafice of your brother. My one wish in life is that on the day of my death, I will face my destiny with the same resolve as Elder Ku'Dal.

Do not worry Durin, no matter what happens, we are still your family here.

Knowing that simple truth will lighten the load of my trials ahead, Elder.

One last thing that I wanted to ask: Where is Djarek? I was hoping to speak with him before we move and I haven't seen him.
