Aluana shrugs.
"It's up to all of us. The Heart is the most important thing. Sooner or later we will end up in combat again, the thing we have to worry about is whose terms we fight it on."

Hearing the offer from Durok, Nest push his hat upwards to be able to see what is being offer, "Durok, the little darlin' will do. Any one have a cozy holster for her."
Looking at the rest as he takes the pulse pistol offer, "At least if we really do end up having to say 'Hi' to Kereene, I won't feel so naked without havin' a chance for some pay back."
Flip, I keep forgetting to colour Nest speech.
PS: How am I doing so far?

Durok hands over the pulse pistol and the holster, as well as four charged power packs. "I'm thinkin' ya gotta line up fer that one," he chuckles. "Jus' remember - she's even harder ta kill'n you are. So if ya git th' chance, don't stop shootin'."Nest Hill is heavily based on Mal Reynolds from Firefly and Serenity, so if you can get his speech patterns down, you're doing all right :D.Some Firefly quotes
Show
"We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so...very...pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die."
"I don't believe there's a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful." (he smiles at her, never stopping working) "Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month." (and for the real humour, Itzchy is using Kaylee's pic for Kate...)
Mal: "If anyone gets nosy, just...you know... shoot 'em. " Zoe: "Shoot 'em?" Mal: "Politely."
Mal: (into com) "Wash, we've got some local color happening. Your grand entrance would not go amiss right now."
(Zoe, Mal, and Jayne are backed up against the edge of a cliff by a bunch of drunken brawlers) Mal: "There's just an acre of you fellas, ain't there?" (to Zoe) "This is why we lost, you know. Superior numbers." Zoe: "Thanks for the re-enactment, sir."
"Well they tell you: never hit a man with a closed fist. But it is, on occasion, hilarious."
Mal: "Well, what about you, Shepherd? How come you're flying about with us brigands? I mean, shouldn't you be off bringing religiosity to the Fuzzie-Wuzzies or some such?" Book: "Oh, I got heathens aplenty right here." Mal: "If I'm your mission, Shepherd, best give it up. You're welcome on my boat. God ain't."
"And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?"
Wash: (Off an alarm sounding from the console) "Closing in." Zoe: "Planet's coming up a mite fast." Wash: "That's just cause I'm going down too quick. Likely crash and kill us all." Mal: "Well, that happens, let me know."
Harrow: "You have to finish it, lad. You have to finish it. For a man to lay beaten... and yet breathing? It makes him a coward." Inara: "It's humiliation." Mal: "Sure. It would be humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man. (lightly stabs Atherton with the sword) Guess I'm just a good man. (stabs him again) Well, I'm all right."
Harrow: "You didn't have to wound the man." Mal: "Yeah, I know, it was just funny."
Mal: "So, she's added cussing and hurling about of things to her repertoire. She really is a prodigy." Simon: "It's just a bad day." Mal: "No, a bad day is when someone's yellin' spooks the cattle. Understand? You ever see cattle stampede when they got no place to run? It's kind of like a...a meat grinder. And it'll lose us half the herd." Simon: "She hasn't gone anywhere near the cattle." Mal: "No, but in case you hadn't noticed, her voice kinda carries. We're two miles above ground and they can probably hear her down there. Soon as we unload, she can holler until our ears bleed." (to River) "Although I would take it as a kindness if she didn't." River: "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds given adequate vacuuming systems." Mal: (to Simon) "See, morbid and creepifying, I got no problem with, long as she does it quiet-like."
Mal: "Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. Whaddya suppose that makes us?" Zoe: "Big damn heroes, sir." Mal: "Ain't we just!"
Mal: "Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find but it was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really, it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting." (to Simon) "Gotta say, doctor, your talent for alienatin' folk is near miraculous." Simon: "Yes, I'm very proud."
Bandit #1: "And I think maybe you're gonna give me a little one-on-one time with the missus." ('Husband') Jayne: "Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature." ('Wife') Mal: "How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people?" ('Husband') Jayne: "If I could make you purtier, I would." ('Wife') Mal: "You are not the man I met a year ago." (they suddenly draw their guns on the bandits, Mal slowly pulling his bonnet off) Mal: "Now think real hard. You been bird-dogging this township a while now. They wouldn't mind a corpse of you. Now you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet: I will end you."

+ + + Nest Hill's Contact + + +
Name: Arthur Ventris Designation: Human criminal boss who runs a pharmaceutical and drug smuggling ring. Description: This tall gangly fellow with a split lip, bionic eye and long dangling jewellery employed Nest for a couple of missions freighting cargo from Hayyel to Manakel. Pros: Arthur's network is far reaching and he has a great many resources to help you in. Con: Arthur will demand a steep price for helping you. In addition Nest's familiarity with Arthur is purely professional and if he runs background checks on you guys, which he almost assuredly will, and finds it is more profitable to turn you into the authorities - Nest does not put it past Arthur to do it.
+ + + Damien's Contacts + + +
Name: Grakon Rex Designation: Lizardkin assassin for hire. Description: Yasuo Turambar clearly remembers Grakon. He is a cybernetically enhanced Lizard Warrior native to Beleth who travelled the galaxy with a mercenary company. Grakon's drive and initiative eventually led him to start up his own personal "Death Company". Yasuo would often pay Grakon to work with him when the Archimandrite issued him assignments in the system. Pros: Grakon is extremely reliable and always takes payment in advance. He will never question the assignment or it would tarnish his reputation as the perfect professional hitman. He has his own ship, and will follow any instructions (Yasuo is confident) without digging too deep. Con: He always asks for payment in advance. He will reneg on the mission, keeping the money, if the parameters deviate significantly from those originally laid out. His resources are not as great as some of the other contacts.
Name: Sthiss-Tora Designation: Yuan-ti fullblood priestess from Salmissus runs a religious cult. Description: Damien's Neomystic Preacher personality (Stefano Ventrillo) is the one who knew Sthiss-Tora. Sthiss-Tora runs a cult of devoted humans (some of whom are genetically altered snakebloods) who are learning the teachings of the Serpent King. The spread of this alien religion is outlawed in the United Republic. Stefano learned of this cabal in secret and travelled there to try to sway these men to abandon this dangerous road. Sthiss-Tora proved however to be remarkably willing to engage in open theistic debates. She let Stefano travel freely through the grounds of Sthiss-tora's secret temple and he even managed to convert one of the cultists to his own elvish rooted Neomystic beliefs. Stefano left on friendly terms. Pros: Sthiss-Tora will trust Stefano implicitly, because Stefano was a different man back then - a man of the cloth, a bit gullible and with nothing to hide. Moreover the reach of the Yuan-ti is great and Damien believes she would not hesitate to help out Stefano in a moment of trouble. Con: Stefano was a bit gullible. Yuan-ti are known for their manipulations. Perhaps she is not so nice! And there is no need to alert yet another force to the fact that you are travelling around with possibly the most powerful artifact in the known universe.
+ + + Morwe's Contacts + + +
Name: Maina Cirwen Designation: Half-elf Shadowseer Description: Maina is a mutual acquaintance of Morwe and Sartan's. She is a dark haired diminutive half-elf who, like Seer Feathermoon, has the ability to predict the future. She is considered a Shadowseer rather than a Seer because she tends to user her divining abilities for ill. Specifically she predicts the movements of major trade ships for various pirate companies who rob them. She can also accurately predict the success of such a venture. Pros: Maina has considerable psychic ability at her disposal and can do such things as scry for enemy troops, tell you whether a plan is likely to succeed or even inform you if you have been spotted or scried for. Con: Maina is madly in love with Sartan. In all her divining she can find no future in which she and Sartan will be together. Her love has driven her to do crazy things in the past such as: 1.) Become a criminal - like him. 2.) Try to change the future by doing things haphazardly. She once called the cops on Sartan just because she knew that if the night progressed as it was - he would eventually leave her. Obviously he left her anyway. 3.) Poke her eyes out (this is craziest of all) so she would no longer have to suffer his 'perfection of form'.
Name: Boghardan the Black Designation: Duruki Geomancer Description: Boghardan has the tremendous eldritch power of shaping the earth to his will. He specializes in the building of 'temporary caves' for the purpose of hiding ships. Morwe has used his services in the past. Pros: Boghardan's main selling point (that he hides ships) would be very valuable. Morwe has a professional working relationship with Boghardan and has never defaulted on a payment in the past. Con: Boghardan is also something of an information broker. He knows Morwe went to prison - he will undoubtedly want to know how he got out. Like Nest's contact Arthur, Boghardan might sell out - Morwe is not that close with him to know.
Name: Mogro the Obscene Designation: Ogre Warlord Description: Mogro is a mighty free Ogre and he runs a group of pirates that had a tight working relationship with the Alphatox Cartel. Mogro used Alphatox's guns (at a reduced fee) and in return offered protection. A client and a bodyguard in one. Pros: Mogro really likes Morwe. Morwe believes if contacted he won't sell him out to the Drow or to the EDK. In fact, Mogro is wanted badly across the system, so it is impossible for him to sell you out Morwe to the EDK. Con: Mogro, like all ogres, comes from a distant solar system where the Ogre people were enslaved by the Illithids. Mogro claims he escape captivity but there are a few tell-tale signs that maybe, just maybe, he was let loose. For instance Mogro wears an emblem of the Illithid Military on his jacket - an emblem that Durok will also remember as thousands of his comrades were murdered in front of him by Ogres who served the enemy side during the Forgotten Wars. It is possible that though he would not sell out Morwe and the others, if he finds out about Damien, perhaps he might be tempted to hand him over to his former masters. It depends on how close his ties are with them.

"Yea, trust me. Kereene will not die easily. I know all to well from my personal experience.", as he stands up to try out wearing the holster and drawing his new weapon in mock shooting of his imaginary target, "Kereene, her's ma partin' gift to ya."

Damien seems to be actively ignoring the exchange between Nest and Durok, as if watching the two joke about the situation makes him uncomfortable. "I know... that is, parts of me know a few people in the system we could use for an operation. One is a pretty powerful religious leader, though we'd have to tred carefully with her. The other's a mercenary who would be good in a bind, but not likely to have the resources for refitting the ship." The memory of Sthiss-Tora just floated to the surface when Damien considered Hayyel. He hadn't heard from Stefano at all and worried the holy man might have been purged or otherwise removed from the system. Sthiss-Tora would trust Stefano without a thought, but would she trust Damien?

Sartan nods grimly as his comrades speak of the drow witch. Aluana had her chance, next time the witch is disintegrated.
"Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm about to activate my Tachyon Unicom and look up good old Feathermoon. Unless there is some objection I'm going to ask him to try to send a ship to meet us on route to Eligore with some personal supplies and the means to disguise this ship."
Sartan clears his throat and activates a throat microphone. He taps an earpiece and a low buzz can be heard as he places the Unicom on speaker phone so all can hear and be heard.
"Calling Feathermoon. This is Naion. Come in."

"Sartan you useless wretch, why aren't you dead yet?"
The horrible throaty growl is unmistakably the voice of Lellith Hesprix the necrotech who built Goliath.
"Didn't Morwe tell you? Feathermoon is a bit of a technophobe - he doesn't have a phone. The emergency contact he gave you is me."
