This brings up an interesting question. Can droids hack from a distance? Every time R2 or T3 have been seen hacking something, they've had to plug into a wall panel or something.
About the fly-by, the reason you "were not able to get close enough" is that you did not want to announce your presence prematurely. Drask's house is kind of out in the middle of nowhere, and having a ship flying around uninvited would be suspicious.

Perhaps if we rent a small craft, like a speeder or small joy ride vehicle. Something where if anyone stops us and ask why we are there we can claim to be out sight seeing or joy riding or such. If only one or two of us go for the ride, it will be more believable, I think.
As far as hacking into their system, lets try seeing what we can find in the nearest city before we try that. At least that is how I think we should proceed. This is his hometown after all and we should be careful and not charge in like a rancor.
Draven is willing to let someone else do the flyby stuff. He would prefer to try to gather some intel from the locals.
Wash: "Yeah well, if she doesn't give us some extra flow from the engine room to offset the burn through, this landing is gonna get pretty interesting."
Mal: "Define interesting."
Wash: "Oh god oh god we're all gonna die?"
Mal: "This is the captain. We have a...little problem with our engine sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then...explode."

Hmm, sounds like an idea. I can do the flyby together with Chase and Draven, you and T8 can see what you can find in the city. I'm not that much of an investigator anyway, but a simple recon-mission shouldn't be too hard.

Can't a flyby be done as a routine flight way over... say in orbit and pictures be taken? That way it can be written off as a routine flight. If it can be done by a satellite, IMHO it can be done by a FTL-capable starship.

I am not sure our ship has the capabilities of taking pictures from orbit. That requires special equipment, or at least I would think it would as there are plenty of times in the novels where Han or Luke or someone had to fly their ships in low over a place on a planet to get a good view of it and some readings.

My earlier post was making the assumption that T8 was at a location where he could access a data port to do his hacking work.  T8-K2 listens to the rest of the group and prepares to leave their current location in search of a port he can access to do some digging for information.

The nearest city is thirty miles to the east, which would be a very short trip aboard your ship, or a rough trek through the forest under the cover of night for Draven and T8-K2. The two of you need to decide whether you want to walk there or be dropped off.
Torin: Roll a Pilot or Stealth check to do recon on the mansion without being seen.

T8-K2 thinks about the options before him and believes the best way to approach the city might be on ground. He wonders if they are being monitored already and he doubts they would expect them to make the trek on ground. Good point, but does anyone know anything about the wildlife on this planet? I would like to know what to expect out there if we are going to taking a nature walk. Knowledge - Galactic Lore: 4 (Nat 1)

Draven, having spent most of his adult life on Onderon, is not very familiar with this planet's ecology.
Torin: As pilot, you should decide for the group whether T8 and Draven will go to town on foot, or if you will take them by ship. The city is about thirty miles away.
