Has anyone purchased and played the new Axis & Allies 1941 board game?  It looks almost identical to its 1942 predecessor, except for a possible change in the Chinese infantry.

I played it yesterday. All of the countries have a lot less buying power since the point value of the territories was reduced. This made it very difficult to replace units that were lost. Russia only has 7 IPC to start the game, Japan has 9, United Kingdom and Germany start with 12 and the United States has 15 IPC. The cost of the units is the same as it is in other versions of Axis and Allies board games. There are no artillery, mechanized units or cruisers in this version and there are no AA guns either. You can not buy factories which means you can only use the factories that are preprinted on the board also with the factories you can only place the number of units on that factory that the territory is worth. It looks like this version was symplified to attract new players.

The map is close to the original Axis and Allies map too with a few exceptions. North Africa, that is controlled by Germany, is one very large territory. There is no factory in Southern Europe and the points for most of the terrtitories has either been reduced or removed.
