A member of our group bought two metal 1:100 models on eBay and they look really good. He also bought some 1:144 He111's which are more practical than 1:100 and look fine as long as the Stukas aren't on the table.
The biggest challenge was getting the stands to fit and work correctly.
We're playing a bit Battle of Brittain bash tonight so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

I have been wondering as well how WOTC would add cards for Set II. I think another starter could be likely or maybe a "large aircraft" scenario pack which would add at least one other "too big to fit in a booster" plane. The SWM Endor scenario pack comes to mind as a possible precedent.

Set II is Pacific themed and will have a new starter with large plane, stat cards, rulebook, etc....

Curious what the 'large' aircraft could be... is it another twin-engine (dare I say, a P-38?), or is it just a particularly bulky single-engine aircraft (like say, the D3A Val with its non-retractable landing gear and relatively wide wingspan)

My guess is the large starter will be a fighter bomber of some sort like the Me 110. A De Havilland Mosquito (US - Normandy) or P61 Black Widow would be great to go with the current set, though my guess is the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu 'Nick'. Over 1600 were built, it's fast (over 330 mph) and had options to swap the drop tanks for bombs. The Betty would be nice but it's really a pretty big size bomber to make it into the set, so probably not.

I agree the KI-45 would make the best fit for a Large Japanese aircraft for the pacific theme. However with the BF 110 apearing in the first set I would be surprised if two large Axis aircraft would apear consecutivley.

I agree - two axis panes in a row are unlikely...
I would like the de Havilland Mosquito - and if it MUST be an American plane than it should be the P-38
...,... and Rock'n Roll - but Minis are fun too...
