First off, I don't mind having Helicopters in the game... they may not be used that much, but a lot of units aren't! :D
I get what you are saying, and I appreciate your ability to see sound reasoning. Did you mean to leave out the part where it is removed from the board with fighters or did you mean for it to stay on the board?? I think fighters are removed from the board because they can't stop, their attacks amount to a drive by shooting from the sky, ie strafing, and I don't understand why everyone wants to ignore the fact that a helicopter can stop and can land.
Yeah, I type quick, so I missed that part I guess! :D I think they should get removed every cassualty phase because: 1) It's simpler, and is already in the game! 2) Just because a Copter can land in a battle zone, doesn't mean it did or should have. From what I see nowadays, most Heli's don't just land within a few hundred yards of the enemy if they don't haved to. So I doubt a armorless spotting copter would do that. But that's just me 2 cents and no one else has to use it!
I would have to back track to double check to be 100% but I think your version is probably the simplest one to be proposed. For myself, I can never abandon the idea that a helicopter can land, it's the fundamental thing that makes them different from strafing aircraft, and if you are portaiting the B1/B2 Kolibri with the passenger, ie transport, then it has good reason to land.
Since I now have over 10,210 points for army builds (yes, 102 times 100 pt armies) I thought it was time for a promotion.
Axis and Allies Miniatures is a historical game about WWII, and there are players who made cards for it and there are players who are using it, because the KOLIBRI was a WWII Spotter Helicopter, the cold war has nothing to do with this historical game about WW2. Thanks.

Then you and your 9 heli's made of pepsi cans can go play "axis and allies" with a bunch of UFO's, Tie fighters, and flying pigs but I think me and others will play Axis and Allies like it was... but a cold war game would be pretty fun.
Like the Centurion has so terribly complicated the game. Hardly. I think the silliness comes from people who are afraid of bold moves in a strategy game, a flying spotter is many times better than any spotter currently in the game.
Captain, what is it you want from us? You had an idea, you asked what we thought and we didn't like it. That should of been the end of it. But it wasn't, its gone on for 14 pages. Your taking this way too personally and its time to move on. I will even say please.
I am not taking this personally, I wrote a long time ago what my goal and stance were, since then I have been addressing people false negative points and outright lies. I continue to discuss it, after all that's what you do on a forum, discuss.
Gentelmen, There is fine line between lively debate and trolling/baiting. Personaly I'm good with anything that doesn't call anything concerning parentage into question. However, keep in mind the COC and remember some people look for or create reasons to Flag an ORC. Back on the topic of the thread that won't die..... I would not mind a spotter Heli. I just find captainofcatans rigid vision of such to be over the top. GW
I'm glad someone pointed out the lack of civility here, I didn't start the thread, but I was clear from the beginning that I would take the devils advocate side of things and defend the idea. Thank you for supporting the idea of a Helicopter Spotter, and I will admitt my versions are over the top, but I already said I chose to take the one extreme end of the side of defending it from the beginning.
My two main points, which no one has been able to knock: (1) There are many spotters in the game already, so a better spotter for Germany, is a better game for Germany, and a better game for Germany is a better game for all.
(2) People keep bring up is limited numbers (though technically there was a squadron) and limited use (though the least used Jeep wasn't used more than the most used Kolibri.), as though that should exclude the helicopter from consideration, when if those were valid premises then the Centurion (and various other units from the Reserves set) would never had been made, but they were. They were made.
Why, because it is a historical game, and the Flettner Kolibri is a historical & historic unit.
No amount of trolling or taunting or cowardly flamebaiting is going to change the facts.

I think this entire thread is silly. It is interesting, but I see no future for helicopters in the game. I would like such a unit if it were made, but if you think about the nature of the plastic used in the game and compare the helicopter to the large AA guns in Counter Offensive (for diameter), I think that a helicopter would make a pretty poor piece in the set.
