Hey everyone!

I know I haven't posted around these parts in a while (though I've been poking my nose in and haven't seen much that you've needed from me).

Just wanted to pop in here and let you all know that the VCL program (of which I am a member) is undergoing a few changes.

Most noteably - we're going to try and grow the program so that more of you can join in as guides - giving you a little recognition if you like answering questions, being friendly, or finding other ways to help out here in the community (writing/updating wikis, for example).

Because the VCL program affects everyone here in the community, I'd encourage you to join in the discussion going on here.

This is a chance - and one of the best chances we've had yet - for you guys to recognize your own leaders, and to help give those leaders a voice between yourselves and WotC.  I'm still here, and still willing to poke WotC/AH about your issues - you're not getting rid of me (yet).

In fact, I suspect that I'll be mentoring anyone who joins the guide/VCL program for this section of the forums.

Anyhow, check out the discussion linked above - and feel free to chip in on that thread, or to PM me directly, if you have any questions or concerns.

"I'm still here, and still willing to poke WotC/AH about your issues - you're not getting rid of me (yet)."

And with all the many improvements you have made since our requests, its hard to argue your concern was not sincere. As for the "hey lets get somebody who is actually a AA fan, as opposed to yet another D$D guy who could care less about us" That suggestion was made about 3 years ago when we pointed out the membership on these forums dropped from the thousands to about 30 people.

Now that you also not made the changes to the backround of the forum pages are still infected with dragons and fantasy motifs, it's further confirmation that this so called "progress" is far too incremental to be of any substantive use for anybody.

BTW the link is broken. Typical kind of result on this site.

The boards were destroyed back 3 years ago, when WOTC basically took away the history and reset the boards back to zero. Now 3 years latter with the dragons and stupid crap on the margins we are stuck as third class citizens and Avalon Hill is nothing but another word for Axis and Allies and WOTC has totally destroyed the legacy of AH by willful neglect.

lip service to be sure.

Well said Von M! In these realms of card flippers and dragon slayers AH folks are persona non grata.

Nice of Wolfstar to drop by though and encourage someone from this board to step up and take over his responsibility for it. lol. Guess the 30 seconds a week it takes him to review this forum could be spent better elsewhere. Tongue out

Why would anyone want to become a VCL?  Every 2 years the programs is totally changed.

Could not say it better. As soon as you become a WOTC puppet your told to tow the company BS line no matter what the truth is, no matter how pathetic things are.

Why? WOTC has never accepted its stewardship of Avalon Hill, they have given it incremental neglect and betrayal in the illusion that fantasy games offer greater financial rewards for WOTC. WOTC has always been a fantasy company built ground up by D&D freeks and RPG noobs who want to live in La la land and move to that planet in Avatar and wear capes, get earrings and tatoos.

No concept of reality exists with them. The 30 seconds a year they spend here is to make the barely legitimate occasional post: "Hey i am still here" , when the real question is still   "hey who are you?"

WOTC won't lift a finger to make any new avalon hill games. I personally never liked Robo Rally, or Vegas Showdown or the other 12 games, but at least they did sell pretty good. History of the world was a great game, why did they stop making that or the Battle Cry game?

They just threw away these concepts and banged their heads against the wall with a vault of endless stupid fantasylore books and games with no end in sight because thats the only things misfits can do these days. If WOTC for some reason stopped making fantasy these same people would be out of a job and totally unemployable, because it's the only thing they can do other than pump gas.

Hasbro purchased Avalon Hill and then a year later purchased WotC. The "stewardship" for AH was forced upon them by Hasbro. The evidence is quite clear how WotC feel about it today. Just look at the AH website. I wouldn't be surprised if A&A Europe 1940 is the last AH game. Not to say there aren't a few enthusiasts for AH within WotC, but they are not management level.
