Can mines be laid more than once in the same sector? If so, do these additional mines have any additional effect on ships moving into that sector?
Nothing but Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash!

A sector is either mined, or not mined. Nothing stops you from mining a sector more than once, but the additional mines won't have any additional effect. Steve

Steve, Another question that has arisen about mines is whether they are temporary or permanent, i.e. do they go away after a ship sets them off or do they remain for the duration of the game once they are laid. Consensus of opinion is that they are permanent but it would be nice to be sure. LT

Thanks, Steve. Another victory for those of us who think simple sentences usually mean exactly what they say. LT

I know this may not be a rule issue and more of a gameplay question but I need to ask. Shouldn't units with Shallow Draft (aka Torpedo Boats) be immune to mines?

Probably, and Submarines most definitely should not be.

I agree with that. Lets hope common sense prevails over what's printed on the card. Subs immune to mines is crazy.

Mines were laid at different depths. Some were just below the surface. I don't think shallow draft should be immune. This is a quote from a book on US PT operations off the Normandy invasion beaches. "On the evening of June 7, Lt. William C. Godfrey's PT 505 gave chase to what appeared to be a submarine periscope cutting through the water near St. Marcouf Island. The periscope disappeared when the 505 came within 75 yards, and Godfrey was about to give the order to release depth charges when the 505 ran over a mine. A violent explosion lifted the stern of the PT out of the water, injured two men, tore loose one depth charge, snapped the warheads off the torpedoes, threw the engine beds awry, and caused some damage to practically every part of the boat. The PT went down quickly by the stern until the base of the 40mm gun was awash." Here is the link: www.ptboats.org/20-07-05-reports-006.htm... Edited to add: PT 311 and PT 555 sunk by mines. www.warshipsww2.eu/staty.php?language=E&...=

Thanks, Weeds. It pays to look towards history for the gameplay and not another game.
