WaS: Crippled Effects

I have two questions regarding Crippled units.

First question: Crippled & Harrassed sub torpedo attacks.
What is the order of operations when calculating the number of torpedoes a crippled and harassed submarine may fire?

ASW Threat
The presence of ASW Ships and Aircraft interferes with a Submarine's ability to attack. A Submarine takes a -1 die penalty to Torpedo attacks (to a minimum of 1 die) for each of the following:

A crippled Ship or Submarine rolls one less attack die when making Torpedo attacks, if they have one (to a minimum of 1 die). If that Ship or Submarine has a special ability that grants a bonus Torpedo attack die in certain conditions, then they still get that bonus die (2 dice) when
attacking under those conditions.

For example, I have a U-510 and a U-66 in play. The U-510 is crippled and was attacked by an aircraft earlier in the turn. It wants to make a torpedo attack at an enemy ship at Range 2. Normally, this unit has 2 torpedo dice at range 2, but it gets +1 from the "Wolfpack" SA, -1 from being crippled, and -1 from being harassed. How many torpedoes does it fire? One because of the first quoted paragraph or two because of the second?

Second question: Crippled Slow ships
The Clarification doc says Slow ships can sometimes stop when crippled because the "Slow" SA stacks with being crippled. What is the reasoning for this? "Slow" is a mechanic to address ships with speed around 20-24 knots compared to a more typical 28-30knots.
Why is it that a Speed 1 ship (5-10 knots) can move at full speed when crippled, but a much faster ship (20-24knot) sometimes is stopped when crippled?
Shouldn't the minimum speed still be 1 for a crippled slow ship? After all a ship that can make 24knots, even when halved(crippled), is still faster than most speed 1 ships start at, let alone their crippled speed.

1) [edited response] 1 die. See the explanation in a later post.

2) A crippled ship has its speed reduced further by Slow because that's the way the rule and the SA interact. I can't state why they were written that way, except to note that since this point was specifically addressed in the Clarifications document, it's clear that that's how the designers wanted it.

1) 2 dice. In general, when a rule states that attack dice are increased or decreased by some condition, it's referring to the number of dice indicated in the Attacks portion of the stat card. Modifications from special abilities happen after those other, conditional modifiers. (There may be an exception to that somewhere, but it's not coming to mind at the moment.)

Ouch. I have doing that one wrong!

Thanks.

So if a german player had a wolfpack of 4 subs and a Kondor was Pinpointing a target, all of the subs could be crippled and harassed by half a dozen destroyers and aircraft but still fire a minimum of 3 torpedoes each? Ouch. I guess the Germans can basically ignore harassment rules.

OK, I'm not sure what's wrong with my head these days -- I just had a root canal, and the painkillers must be scrambling my brain.

Torpedo attack reductions from ASW threat and from Crippled status are treated differently.

ASW threat can reduce a torpedo attack all the way down to 0 dice or below, including bonuses from special abilities. If that happens, the sub still gets 1 torpedo attack die.

Crippled status never reduces a sub's torpedo attack below 1 die. Anywhere on the stat card where the sub had at least 1 torpedo attack die, it will still have at least 1 torpedo attack die when crippled. SA bonuses tack onto that 1 die just like they would normally.

BUT ...

If a crippled sub is being affected by ASW threat, it can be knocked down to 0 or fewer attack dice, including bonuses, just like any other sub. It would then get 1 attack die anyway.

So can we say :
Apply Crippled Effects first, then SA effects SECOND and ASW-Threat LAST - if after FIRST and LAST the Torpedo dice would be elow 1 the torpedo dice are 1.
...,... and Rock'n Roll - but Minis are fun too...
