Allies – Soviet Union and its Allies

Escalation – Special Rule
Increase the point value of a player’s initial roster to 115 points from 75. Players may use rosters of up to 20 units instead of 15. A player’s roster may have no more than 150 points in total units.

Note: This rule begins in 1943 at Kursk but may be used at any point in the war as per both players agreement beforehand.

Added "Escalation" special rule, beginning at Kursk. This rule allows the inclusion of some of the heaviest armor in the war. King Tigers, SU-152's, and more will be accessable with the point increase. The roster size was increased to accomodate more soviet infantry, if they should so choose to go that route with the bonus points.

Dora9 and I just finished our first go at this campaign. We've been playing it for a few months now (this campaign can take a VERY long time, if you're interested in recreating the entire Eastern Front war experience). I conceded the campaign (as the Axis) down 8 campaign points at the end of the Kursk operation. One of the things we quickly learned from playing the campaign is that EVERY point counts and taking experimental or "fun" builds to an operation usually costs that player victory. Planes are often a luxury item that is too costly to spend points on, elite infantry and heroes make a common appearance and every point is weighed for it's usefulness and longevity on the battlefield. Additionally, because the soviets get to pick the maps so often, the Germans are forced into close quarters with hordes of infantry in an urban environment. This makes taking Flamethrowers essential as well as units with high anti-infantry dice. The SS-Stormtrooper and the Finnish MG (at 9 points) were often on the battlefield.

We may pick up again, switching sides. Hopefully there will be some new, 3" snow maps in the near future, they would really enhance the gameplay of this campaign.
