2E: Dark Sun 3E: Eberron 4E: Warlord
Things that 5E needs to do: -Make the use of battlemaps/miniatures the default. -Make healing fun, magical AND non-magical needs to be an option. Long live the Warlord! -Make magic items feel magic/mythical. I don't want a dagger +1, I want STING.

I would bring back the clean and well organized layout of the 2e players handbook (original printing). 3 column format, no needless textures and visual garbage, spells organized by level and name, perfect size font, etc...

I would bring back the clean and well organized layout of the 2e players handbook (original printing). 3 column format, no needless textures and visual garbage, spells organized by level and name, perfect size font, etc...
As long as the books don't fall apart within weeks of purchasing them, like the 2e books did, then yes, definitely yes. Just because something is a fantasy-based doesn't mean it shouldn't be clear and easy to read.
OD&D, 1E and 2E challenged the player. 3E challenged the character, not the player. Now 4E takes it a step further by challenging a GROUP OF PLAYERS to work together as a TEAM. That's why I love 4E.

Yeah I'm with you on this.
Even more, the Monstrous Compendium layout for the monsters. Nice and neat, full page spread with an illustration for each creature.

Yeah I'm with you on this.
Even more, the Monstrous Compendium layout for the monsters. Nice and neat, full page spread with an illustration for each creature.
Minus the easily damaged three-hole punched sheets! In other words, like the Monstrous Manual. (And to tell the truth I really didn't like most of the illustrations, but I did like the fact that each monster had one.)
