Locked: Lack of Interest in Next

My group - myself excluded - has absolutely zero interest (we gave the first playtest packet a "run", but barely had interest after character creation, and it only went downhill from there).

The major forums I visit don't really seem to care about D&DN. It's not argued for or against; merely not spoken of.

A significant part of this is yes, it's still in playtest phase and there isn't anything out yet.

I'm curious how much of this will be that way after the game is actually released. All the fanfare, and the result? An echoing "meh"? Or will people turn around and be happy with what is presented?

I know my opinion on the whole matter, but that's better left in a different thread.
Want the tl;dr of my posts? Read the bold text; I put it there to highlight the main points for ease of skimming.

My group is all pumped

I had trouble getting them in the beginning, some having the when this class is included I'll check it out contingency, scheduling was also a problem, but all of my players agree they love the way 5th is shaping up.

They are all especially pumped by this weeks article and casters being able to concentrate utility.  Basically everything you guys complain about are the exact things my tables are pumped about.

We're with you and yours, totally digging 5th Ed, obviously the classes are in a flux (hopefully they will crap or get off the pot some day), but aside form that, the chassis is great, as far as we're concerned.

My group has been enjoying it. They've found the fighter to be a little boring, also, because of the lack of challenge in encounters right now, but they've enjoyed the over all game quite a bit and are excited about it.

I've generally seen a collapse of interest, but I don't think that it's a sign that Next is losing people or anything as much as it is that people are busy, and don't necessarily want to spend their limited TTRPG time each week playtesting. All that means is that the playtest version of Next isn't the best system on the market (not surprising, since it's just a playtest), and the excitement of trying something new doesn't compensate for that enough. I honestly never saw the level of excitement I was hoping to; the initial playtest packet salted the earth pretty heavily, and it was a huge slog to get people to give it another look.

See now that its firming up I'm getting a building of intrest.  As the classes start rolling out the intrest is climbing in my groups.  I have people waiting to get a hold of specific classes before they jump in and they still always ask me about whats on the horizon.

Wel we are still playing our other campaigns.
The players don't mind playing a next encounter when waiting for one of the other players to arive, but when everybody is there we mostly wanto to get on with the campaign we have been playing for a long time.

So not taking the time to play full adventures just combat encounters the players don't do much of exploring and rp.

You know, you playtest if you want to. That's why it's an open playtest.

You are being given the privelage to help shape the game, not the right. If you really feel like it's not worth your time, so be it. Feel free to play something else, as I have. But the designers don't need to go out of their way to make sure everyone stays engaged 100%. That's not what an open playtest is.

Too many people are trying to turn this playtest into their weekly game night routine, and that's just not what it is. The game is complete enough for that.

I've experienced the opposite. The latest season of encounters was for written for 4e (with an optional Next conversion doc). With multiple tables, the players at my FLGS (a few dozen) had the option to choose either, but they all chose Next. I heard most other stores experienced the same result.

I wonder if the readily identifiable group of people who insist upon peppering these boards with 'Next is such a dissapointment and everyone around me agrees, blahblah, etc' will ever get tired of moaning on the internet ad nauseum. ?
