The biggest question is: Are you going to sing all the time during your encounters?....
Thanks to the power of reflavoring, he doesn't have to sing at all if he doesn't want to.
The last bard I had played death metal on his electric guitar.
So he was an axe build?

OD&D, 1E and 2E challenged the player. 3E challenged the character, not the player. Now 4E takes it a step further by challenging a GROUP OF PLAYERS to work together as a TEAM. That's why I love 4E.

There's an app icon for that... I once reflavored a bard as a "wardancer" - he took Perform: Dance as his performance skill, carried a drum, and I MC'd into a couple levels of monk as well. Most of his spells were self-buffs. I got some Riverdance jokes, but the guy was basically fluffed as a Capoeira fighter...
Spoiler:

I am the Lawnmower Man. (I AM GOD HERE!)
I am the Skull God. (Koo Koo Ka Choo)
There are reasons they call me Mad...
