Hmm... two guys that should be fighting at a higher weight class. Why don't they just have Aldo move up? that way neither has to go through a brutal weight cut.

Maybe. Aldo looked pretty boring against Edgar. If Petis manages to not get injured before the fight, it should be a good fight.

If Pettis is healthy and the cut isn't too bad I imagine he'll bring some excitement out of Aldo. Either that or it'll end pretty quick.

I get the feeling that the cut is going to take it out of both. I watched a video with Aldo. They asked him about the weight cut and he said it was rough. I'm not sure, but I don't think Pettis has ever fought at 145 lbs. And going down a eight class and taking on Aldo right away isn't going to be the best thing for him. I think that's something that affected Edgar. He hadn't fought at that weight before. He should have had a tune up fight at that weight before going up against Aldo. That way he could have adjusted.
Hopefully Pettis won't have that problem. I think he should hire the guy that helped Sonnen cut weight for the second Silva fight. Sonnen cut around 20-30 lbs for the weigh-ins and gained it back in time for the fight. If Pettis can do that, he would be in a great position to make it an exciting fight, and maybe take the belt with an off-the-fence kick.
The interview with Aldo also had some interesting things in it, besides the weight cut part. Aldo was asked about fighting Pettis and he said he didn't think that Pettis deserved the shot and that there were other people higher ranked than Pettis. I'm not sure who would be higher ranked than Pettis at that weight. It sounded more like Aldo was a bit scared of fighting Pettis, who is much lasger than Edgar, and has crazy fighting skills.
They also asked Aldo about moving up to 155 anf fighting Henderson, and he sid he would do it if the UFC brass told him to, but he would beed a tune up fight before. Makes sense, but makes it seem as if he was a bit intimidated by taking on Henderson. That would definitely be an interesting fight. Both have crazy leg kicks, but Henderson has much more powerful legs. I think out of the two, Henderson would be able to take more kicks. They can both dish out hard kicks, but in the end, Aldo may end up limping like Diaz did.

The jump makes a lot of sense for Pettis. He had the next shot at 155 but had to wait. He didn't want to and that makes sense. And that's why he's qualified for the shot whether Aldo likes it or not. Pettis is so strong even at 55 that I can see Aldo being a bit concerned. If he cuts right he'll be a problem at 45. dood has some sick power, speed and crazy ability.
