Switch to Forum Live View Ongoing damage and D&D next

If this has already been discussed or mentioned elsewhere, please direct me to it.  Is ongoing damage something that is going to be part of D&D next as it was in 4e, or is that now a thing of the past?

D&D's always had some form of ongoing damage, except maybe in the original Red Box, even if it wasn't outright called 'ongoing damage'.  Wounding weapons, spell effects like Creeping Cold that do damage over time, etc etc.  I suspect it will still exist in some form, though it may not be as prevalent as it is in 4e.

im sure black dragon acid breath weapon would be as well as some slime monsters ect
