That seems like edition warring.

Umm, isnt it actually the whole point of DnD Next to have a game that you can alter (and delete the bits you do not agree with)?

Telling someone they have to homebrew 5e in order to get the edition they want, is tantamount to edition warring.

I dont tell vancian-lovers to rule-zero their own vancian system in themselves. Because. You know, it is the same thing as saying, “F*** you.”

no i wont argue with you any more as its not needed.
1. they wont scrap the whole system due to one person crying a river
2. creating a core system with modules of things that worked in diffrent editions with a pick and choose option allows the best of all worlds
3. i dont like 3rd , 3.5 or 4th edition however if they made ideas from those editions as modules i prob. would pick the ones i liked
4. the soul and feel that i got playing the older edition is totaly missing from the newer ones, its more than just people dming a certin style it was the writing and flavor of the writers which can be fixed by getting talent in to create material that meets that. i bet if that happened i would be happy to put down my old man books and play dnd next

Why, why does it need to be called Wizard for you. Quite literally the difference between a sorceror and wizard is one is scholarly and learns spells through scholarly means, the other has more innate tallent and innately learns and practices spells.

They both use the same kinds of magic, and they are both magic users. Quite literally they made sorcerors as an alternative for players who didn't want to play vancian. Unlike Warlocks you also don't have any traditional alignment restircitions. Hell you could even play your character to see himself as a wizard who has overcome the traditional holdbacks of wizardry. You can cast like a sorceror not because of innate talent, but because you learned and studied how to. Basically the difference between a sorceror and wizard is the system, that's about it.

Actually the more I think about it, the more I think Sorceror should be included in basic (instead of the previously suggested Warlock).

As wel if you feel that houseruling requirements for your exact dsesire negates the buying of a system, you will never be happy. RPG's are felxible, but as long as some form of flavor and rules exist, there exists desire of players that would need to be houseruled to fit.

I still think you do not quite grasp the whole Basic/Standard/Advanced vibe that Mike is throwing out there for DnD Next.

No...but they will when the interest dwindles to zero before the game is at the printers.

Fine. But the core system could and MUST be better than it is now. It must also advance the game in a significant way or else what is the point? We already have bookshelves full of what they've shown us so far.

Your favorite edition is irrelevant here. We're talkign about a new one. Get with the program, pa.

There is no soul to any edition...that is a bull crap excuse made up by cainotophobics who want to complain about kids on their proverbial lawn. If you had anythign worthwhile to contribute, it would be specific and not some vague "feeling".

What you want is something called a Wizard that plays like the sorceror does. Why are you being so stuborn and picky that you feel the game itself has to have a Wizard with sorceror/warrior mechanics for you to be happy. why can't you just use one of the other classes and call it a wizard?

you can have one by taking your sorcerer character sheet crossing out sorcerer and writing wizard. its all semantics and if they wont give you that and you dont buy it its your loss
