Ki, Chi, Qi, and Xi are all the exact same thing
This. They're all the same thing.
Yup. From Wikipedia: "qì (also chi or ch'i)" "Qi is pronounced in ... Korean: gi; Japanese: ki; Vietnamese: khí"
The thread title is either a troll or an indication of a horribly misinformed poster.
if I tell you I'm a Buddha you will say "get back to psychiatrics hospital"

I think the OP & that guy who's always going on about renaming longswords to "arming" swords should get together.....
long sword, not longsword

From everything I've seen, uglyvan is clearly a dadaist.
I want "punch magic in the face" to be a maneuver

Ki and chi are definitely not the same thing! You use ki to open door. Chi is what someone says when he or she dies while being photographed.

No no no no no ! you got it all wrong: Chi is what you use to make korean cuisine, Ki is part of a car's injection system.

As the primary purpose of Dungeons and Dragons is entertainment, I would argue that popular culture does and should have a stronger influence than semantical historical nitpicking.
It can backfire, as vancian wizards or military rogues are not the most popular incarnations of these archetypes, even after years of D&D influence in pop culture.
I disagree with Vancian wizards not being the most popular design in D&D, at least among the greater player-base (not the much narrower forum player-base represented here).
The military rogues have had less years of influence than the non-military rogues.

Wasn´t Ki the name of the "fantastic car" (Knight Rider)? I rembember that 80´s TV serie where Michael Knight talked to his watch and he said the classic "Ki, I need you".
"Say me what you're showing off for, and I'll say you what you lack!" (Spanish saying)

That was 'KITT', standing for the Knight Industries Two Thousand.
