Random thought.

Guardian Aspect:
Gains fury when you or your allies are hit by attacks
Defender Aura: Adjacent enemies suffer disadvantage on attacks that do not include you as a target.
Natures Fury: spend a fury point to make an opportunity attack against an enemy who disengages or makes an attack that doesn't include you as a target.

Wrath Aspect
Gain rage when you hit with or are hit by an attack.
Rage Strike: Spend a point of fury for +1[W] damage

I am not digging the contorting of the barbarian (lame name, regardless) class into some sort of shapeshifter, is it now a mischievous badger?

It's not Shapeshift...more like being possesed and fighting/acting like the thing that posses you.

It's like getting possesed by the ghost of Bruce Lee and you suddenly start kicking ass with masterful kung fu, moving, dodging, blocking, kicking, punching and shouting exactly like him

Okay, a possession-based class could be cool, but do we have to call it a Barbarian?

It make sense, because what most people think of berserker barbarian (the paint on the face/body is actually this drug), used drugs that put them into "trance", back on the day, people believed that when you got high (usually shamans and witch doctors) with drugs and enter a trance, is because you let spirits enter your body.

One thing I like about 4E Rages/Guardian Forms is that, being Daily, you can't use them every battle... but they last until that battle is over. To me, that gave the feeling of tapping into a great power that is hard to access, but essentially limitless.

One thing I don't like about ALL 4E Dailies (and encounter powers) is that you can choose each one only once, so it has been hard to develop thematic/signature abilities-- it kind of limited character development for me several times, when I couldn't take additional/upgraded versions of Guardian Forms/Rages, and instead had to choose unrelated powers.

I would prefer Rages etc. be encounter-long effects that you can use one to three times a day (depending on level). You would "build" the Rage at creation (though there would be pre-constructed options), choosing from different possible effects (extra damage, damage resitance, increased movement, elemetal auras etc.), like other characters choose maneuvers or spells known. As you level, a few more effects could be added/efeects could be increased.

gothikaiju - there's advantages and disadvantages to allowing people to take the same power.  If you allow it, then people can create a signature, and feel like a unified character (as you've found out).   And, sometimes they can feel like they're doing the same thing every battle, and just spamming powers.

4e wizards chose one way, 5e wizards seem to choose the other way.  Personally, I lean towards 4e, but taste preference is unique to individuals.

Lawolf, what if the amount of carried fury (or whatever) were a set amount based on level? So big bad barbarians could go buck wild all day, as long as they kept attacking/getting attacked. Meanwhile, the low-level barbarian could hold onto his 1 token to start the next fight with a bang.
I like your ideas for abilities, minus defender aura. This is a personal bias, but I think that type of thing is more paladiny. However, spending a token to give a short range battle cry (WofP?), could have the same effect for a round?

Yeah, I disliked HAVING to pick different options in 4E, just as I suspect I would dislike having no options.

Ideally, the choice would be up to the player, and if they saw the character as versatile vs a spambot, or thematic vs. unfocused. 

For instance, if the wizard player wants to memorize three of one spell, or three different spells of the same level, they should be able to.
