First impressions: The only thing I see that I have a problem with is the "Musical Ear". I would change it as follows: "A Bard may create totally new songs of any level he/she can Sing. (I.E. a 1st level Bard may only create Cantrips and 1st Level Songs.) These songs may duplicate some spells used by Wizards or Clerics. (DM's choice on whether they can be "translated") The base chance of the song actually working is: base DC of 16, +1 bonus for each level of the Bard, -1 penalty for each level of the Song you are trying to create. (A 1sr level Bard gets to roll a DC 15 roll for Cantrips and a DC 16 roll for 1st level spells) (The Base DC of 16 is just a offhand "try it and adjust it as you go along" thing. Adjust it up or down however you want to) Once you have created the new Song, roll your check to see if it works. If it works, the Bard adds it to his/her Song Book. The DM is free to make any changes to the Song to make it "fit in" with existing Songs.

Hrm.. I could see this being rather useful, though to be honest, all of the spells are already Wiz/Cleric spells that were just rewritten. At least all of the ones that are effects anyways. I didn't see the Bard doing damage with their music, but more of being controllers of their atmosphere with the music and masters of combat with their weapons and such.
The only real question on this is how would it work. Would they need to invoke a series of charges to complete the song? Say... 2 charges per song level and you can only put one charge in when you make an extended rest at the saccrifice of one hour of your resting time. I think that would be a bit fair, and as they progress in levels they will be picking up songs fairly quickly.

Great work GageEndal! i really enjoy the reading the pdf, looking forward to playtest this thing, but i have to disagree on this: "I didn't see the Bard doing damage with their music, but more of being controllers of their atmosphere with the music and masters of combat with their weapons and such."
I think a bard could make some damage on combat by playing tunes of uncomfortable sounds, i see this like a channeling ability that every turn deals X damage, a shriek, scream, or a heavy metal solo to make a cone of damage dealing sonic blast (or a grindcore bard who growls in the face of orcs), think about it, it should be awesome to make a character who rocks the battlefield, literally.

I think that would be an extension of the updated Musical Ear. I would post it up right now, but I'm a big dork and I forgot to save a copy of the InDesign file to my hard drive, so I have to wait till Monday to make any changes (on my work computer).
I've been to a lot of concerts, rock, pop, rap, metal, and even a Lillith Fair. Out of all of those I was probably deafened for a few hours, but nothing short of jumping into a Mosh Pit was actually damaging to me. While I get that this isn't even slightly the real world, I always try to induce a bit of realistic physics into things when I can (says the guy who plays a Monk).
Though this is just my thoughts. With the changes that I will put in on Monday to allow Bards to create their own custom songs this will become something that is at DM's discression in each campaign and creating spells is really super easy, I made most of those in just a minute or two each.

Considering a fantasy world, and the (IRL) power of the mind to play games to our bodies, i can see a sonic or psychic damage dealing bard, obviously, it would be a secondary thing, cuz i agree with you that his/her main role is to support, control, heal, buff, etc. Waiting for monday then.

Yeah, I think some sonic boom spells would be useful and even some kind of shatter spell that maybe can shatter a weapon or crystal creature.

Thunderwave. This is pretty much Sonic damage which fits nicely with the idea of Song being used to cast spells.

Nice. But you should change Songsmith to Songwriter. It just sounds better in my opinion. I like the idea of being able to create something yourself. It really gives the Bard some more versatility. The only thing I'd say is that this can be abused greatly. Some players would just try to create their own songs from other lists and just state that the character is taking x much time off to do so. I'd definitely put a limit to it.

How about making it one hour before or after (but not both) of an extended rest
