Perhaps dramatic was the wrong word: earnest would be better. I counted 3 or 4 different references to" promises" in the first two pages and I have a sneaking suspicion they were chosen because there will, *be*a good of promises. As a result, it comes across as" how can we involve Raven rather than, let's make a promise because we have cause to make a promise. I'd very much like to pick the promise that triggers sa, rather than have it picked for me.

Hmm... there was only one overly-obvious-attempt-to-make-a-promise-in-order-to-ascend-Sa that I noticed, but I totally get where you are coming from. Ascensions are important moments, and it sucks when it feels tacted on or forced. My own favorite ascension... well, I don't remember the circumstances, actually, but it was done in such a way that my god (a god of knowledge) was able to climb out of the ascender's mouth. I loved that In contrast, the least satisfying was when I was a water god and someone just shouted at the ocean out of mild irritation and that created me.

What sort of promise are you looking for? Does it have to be obvious, or could it be something and debateable (like a token of affection given between two lovers)?

Agni's  'I'll burn you up' count:
Active threat: 1!
Passive-agressive: 2!

Lets see how high I can get these

An ascension quick reference guide:

Sa - self-ascend or others ascend. Arises over a promise. Raven would like to choose the promise, so perhaps self-ascension would be best? Otherwise, contact Raven first to see if a particular promise will fit.

Karak - Others ascend. Ascend through an accident, such as someone messing with the fabric of the universe, and going a little awry, or an attempt at creation being tampered with, or something similar. Something going very wrong (but not necessarily in a bad way. Just severly unintended or something to that effect).

Azgo - self-ascend, but sired from twins that become fused. It is not a form that he choose willingly. He was originaly a pair of gods tumbling and spiraling through the ether that are unnaturally becoming connected, and both of them are fighting thier hardest to stop the fusion. It is painful and feels terribly wrong as they come together and crash on either the world or an instantly created demiplane as the fusion finishes. As he awakens, he is consumed with pain and the first sickness, himself and his condition, is born.

Yr - either self-ascend or others ascend. Arises from something happening that is worthy of a story. She would come about from that first great myth, and then she would sort of embellish a bit, and make it stranger and more epic, and then sort of exist as that story. Alternately, she could be ascended by another god who does something or creates something really memorable or mythical. But as the counterpart to Thought's god, whatever the means, would like to ascend around the same time as The Ancient Spirits of Evil.

TASOE - self-ascend. Basically whenever the admins give me the green light. Being amorphous and vague, he can easily arrange his own suitable circumstances for arising.

Altruis - either self-ascend (prefered, I think) or others ascend. Would probably ascend unintentionally feasting on the souls of the other gods' creations, until he would eventually be able to gain enough power. Or another possible scenario is arising out of the pure malice or evil of another God or one of their actions. Such as a plague/battle happens between Gods or/and mortals and the clash of powers or torment of souls dead in a catastrophe swirling together to form into Altruis.

ff6Shadow - Never ascend. Ever. Don't trust him. Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. He's fast, faster than you can image. Don't look away and don't blink.

Umbra - others ascend. Another god pokes around in the darkness, and something in the darkness is awoken.

Thereus - Topheh ascend (my, we're being specific, here. Topheh, hop to it. Perhaps Leaf can command you :P). It would make sense if this was ascended by Agni in the purpose to act as a steward or "Handyman" of some sort whose job is to..well..make things more tangible and solid. A craftsman that makes himself as his first craft would be quite cool as well, but nontheless I would prefer of Thereus was ascended by one of the "Old Gods".

Haven't heard from Khan, LinYurenya, or Crimson Vampr.

If Raven wants to pick the promise, then self-ascension does make sense.  Alternately, retroactive AP-spending could be allowed for such an instance.

Sounds good.  Sounds like that might happen soon

Azgo - self-ascend, but sired from twins that become fused. It is not a form that he choose willingly. As he awakens, he is consumed with pain and the first sickness, himself and his condition, is born.

I could also imagine this as the completely failed ascension attempt by two Gods at the same location.  Each forms half a God, and is horrified to realize that they've created a monster... who is then a new God.

Yr - either self-ascend or others ascend. Arises from something happening that is worthy of a story. She would come about from that first great myth, and then she would sort of embellish a bit, and make it stranger and more epic, and then sort of exist as that story. TASOE - self-ascend. Basically whenever the admins give me the green light. Being amorphous and vague, he can easily arrange his own suitable circumstances for arising.

Part of me likes the 'matter-antimatter' idea for both TASOE and Yr.  Might be a good way of going about it.

Altruis - either self-ascend (prefered, I think) or others ascend. Would probably ascend unintentionally feasting on the souls of the other gods' creations, until he would eventually be able to gain enough power. I actually like the feasting on souls image... gives you an automatic reason to dislike Joran's God.

ff6Shadow - Never ascend. Ever. Don't trust him. Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. He's fast, faster than you can image. Don't look away and don't blink.

Noted.  Will not take pictures of him either.

Umbra - others ascend. Another god pokes around in the darkness, and something in the darkness is awoken.

Cool.

Working on it, working on it!

Well surely the more promises floating around the easier it will be to choose one to ascend from?

As i intend Pruinus to create a lot of icy mountains (Was her symbol but thinking about changing it) i can imagine her ascending Onus and Kuranath based on their descriptions.

if i really need to post from now on i'll do it as smaller, separate posts on mobile then merge them when i have computer access. (Unless they are objections, it could mess up chronology.)

But i only rushed that post on due to not wanting to leave agni, leaf and zebus alone in the universe, when i'm no longer 1/4 of the playerbase my posts will probably be less common but much better presented.

James, this seems like a good time to ascend Stone and Magma, but Stone has not yet declared how it wishes to be ascended... which is a shame.

Actually, idea:  What if we had a 'hot' sun and a 'cold' sun, one traveling east-west and the other north-south.  Both provide light, but one is hot as day and the other cold as night (or so).  We could do something more extreme, but that might get a little insane to RP (Day 1:  Its a desert.  Day 2:  Icicles and snowfall!).

Thoughts?

I like the idea toph, but as personal preference I'd like to change it instead so that the moon of this world radiates cold.

@Pen_Draggin: Whilst now is the time to decide what rules apply in this universe, I think that we're going with the "Real Life unless stated otherwise" route, which must fiction follows. Unless it is explicitly stated otherwise, the same rules apply here as real life.

This is to prevent cases such as Joran saying "I didn't say my humans couldn't breath underwater!"
;D

Edit: Sorted out my posts so they are now much more readable. Could be worth another read as a few more details have been added, but it's not necessary. Now I can bring my fullest to what shall forever be known as "Lords Of Creation: Jamespies Is An Idiot. "
