I still cannot believe nobody brought up the poorly-designed armor add-ons from OA yet.

Probably because most people avoid them for a number of reasons.  Being 3.0 and from what I recall about the potentially stupid brokeness along with a lot of confusion are some of them.  From what parts I've heard about that source it seems like they were shooting for a modular armor system which may work in a limited setting but has the potential for abuse when thrown in with the normal rules.

IIRC you could start with something like a chainmail shirt but then by adding the additional piece of armor increase its armor bonus by +1 effectively giving you chainmail but without coming out and saying it.  Without knowing what "pieces" an armor already effectively has someone would think they could add that thing to full plate and get the same armor increase.  Actually, starting with a Breastplate and its +5 armor bonus and then figuring out three things you can "add" to the armor for another +3 bringing it up to full plate quality but then add those things to full plate as well.

People don't normally bring it up, and I rather wish you hadn't here (if you erase yours I'll erase mine), because it is poorly-designed and doesn't play nice with most other material.  I believe the same can be said about other things in the OA.

You do also have a couple of interesting AC effects from craftsmanship or materials, such as gloryborn armour or the inclusion of Ysgardian heartwire.  Neither of those is explicitly described as an armour bonus, though, so it could be argued that they are not (much more credibly in the case of gloryborn).

Four pages?  I still have it all on one as I'm typing this reply but then I like seeing the thread.  It hasn't devolved into an "O ma, got a be right" thread although I was worried.

I have my post count/page set at 40, so it's still just one page for me. That said, I think Slagger was referring to threads over in PE Gen that hit double digits even for me.

I just left the page count on the default (which seems to be 10), which is about as close as you get to a standard page length.

Naturally, if you want a more absolute standard, you'd be using the total post count and we've seen quite a few threads run up hundreds of posts.  They can certainly get off track, but you can also run into some interesting viewpoints on topics that you might otherwise leave unconsidered.

Zauber's Mutable Rod: This rod has a number of useful functions that make it easier to live in the wilderness.  It is made of polished wood, with five studlike buttons on one end.  Each button produces a different effect when pressed.  Unless otherwise noted, the rod’s functions have no limit on the number of times they can be employed.
When button 1 is pressed, one end of the rod produces a small flame, equivalent to a candle.
When button 2 is pressed, the rod unfolds into a two-person tent, complete with bedrolls and warm blankets.
When button 3 is pressed, the rod becomes a one-handed hammer, suitable for pounding pitons into a wall.
When button 4 is pressed, the rod becomes a sturdy iron spade.
When button 5 is pressed, the rod becomes a wooden bucket able to hold 2 gallons of liquid.  Once per day, it can be commanded to fill with fresh water.
If the rod is seriously damaged or broken in any of its alternate forms (button 2, 3, 4, or 5), it reverts to its basic rod form and cannot be activated for 24 hours.
Moderate conjuration; CL 9th; Craft Rod, minor creation; Price 375 gp; Weight 2 lb.

Not really an issue Slagger unless you start refering to things by page number.  I mean if you say something in one of those mega-threads about something referencing "page 3" it is obviously not something I'll find on page three.  Refering post number is often better except that means you need to note the post number before referencing it as you only get to look so many posts back when making a new one.

I can understand having few posts per page but if that number is "too small" posts that come at the end of a page can easily be missed.  I for one find it very annoying when I ask a relatively specific question  directed at a person who is quoting me and I don't get a response from it; you're not the one I'm thinking about although you probably knew that.
