In the description of Hurricane Strike, it mentions a Strength check by the defender. What's the DC of the check, & how is it determined?  Is the attacker's attack roll? Is it a contest between the attacker's strength and the defender's strength?

Thanks!

Hurricane strike could be interpreted as a throw, come to think of it.
I cannot find the DC either. I would probably go with the attack roll. Least amount of math, and makes some conceptual sense.

Some of your maneuvers call
for a saving throw. If a maneuver calls for a
saving throw, the DC equals 10 + your Wisdom
modifier + the weapon attack bonus for your
level, as noted on the Monk table

Yup ban monk all togather. Its better for a player to not join the game then to join the game and then be disappointed cause their character got ruined by the DM.

Dreaming the Impossible Dream Show
Imagine a world where the first-time D&D player rolls stats, picks a race, picks a class, picks an alignment, and buys gear to create a character. Imagine if an experienced player, maybe the person helping our theoretical player learn the ropes, could also make a character by rolling ability scores and picking a race, class, feat, skills, class features, spells or powers, and so on. Those two players used different paths to build characters, but the system design allows them to play at the same table. -Mearl

If you want martial realism, accept that the monk isn't supposed to be a martial class. They're a a magic melee class that uses maneuvers.

Except that real world martial monks are, for the most part, just really skilled and in incredible shape.
/pet peeve.

That being said, DnD monks are growing on me. Like mold. 4e ones were interesting, as were the ones which had a Ki pool.

I'm more worried about the monk's 1-hit-kill-anything ability.
