Chris mentions one of his pet peeves used to be the players not taking the bait. His eventual response was to simply wing it. That's something that I can relate to and something that has influenced my DMing style the most. I've learned the players won't always go *forward*, sometimes they go off to the side or even go back. So as DM, I've learned the value of being willing and able to say "Okay, let's see what happens" . This simple phrase really helps me acknowledge the possibilities for the game. I think I'm a better DM for it.
