Everyone has a prefered system, I happen to like AD&D myself but that does not mean I want a 2E.  clone- pun intended- to be Next. Now that I have took up arms for AD&D lets talk about what cool things from other editions that need to be Part of Next. I personally vote for Powers and dailies akin to those  from 4e. What do you guys think could enhance Next? P.s. no more Edition bashing please. help me brainstorm.

Pretty much the name of the game with AD&D was make a fighter or a wizard. It never really ruined my games because a character would pretty much play a thief for 1 session and then switch over.

I never had any problems with high level wizards because getting to high levels in AD&D was super hard.

Gygax was a wargamer... didnt mean people wanted to not adventure and pretend they were a general. At high level CuCulain/Beowulf still fights the Dragon. (I didnt play 2e or even have any of the expansions to 1e back in the day).

man you missed out Garthanos. That sucks.

Utterly possible the friends I played with had moved or changed play  interest. I hear they added combat and tactics to late 2e,which might have been intriguing. I did like some of what I read in 2e and found the list of Fighers from legend and myth very inspiring.

Improvisation in 4e: Improv. Attacks(by wrecan) - Fave 4E Improvisations

The Non-combatant Adventurer

Reality is unrealistic - and even monkeys protest unfairness

Dynamic Reflavoring : The Fighter : The Wizard : The Swordmage
Creative Character Collection - Featuring:The Faerie Master - Snow White - Joxer - Ironman - Elric - Bloodwright

By virtue of being a player your characters are the protagonists in a heroic fantasy game even at level one

The flavor of 2nd Edition was really a huge strength of that game. Ya, there were lots of cool background and kits in it for all classes. Garth- What do you think you want to think from 4e. needs to make it into the Next Codex? You do prefer that system as I recall.

Personally, I like errata.  It warms my heart to know that someone at WotC is sitting around trying to think of ways to make the game better for free.  So long as you're not playing in organized play, I've always basically viewed them as a big chunk of optional rules, and that's how they've mostly played out, in my experience.  I'd be miffed if there was a no errata policy in 5e.  I did have a problem with some of 4e's errata, but it was because of poor implementation, not just the concept of errata.

Errata is a list of errors and their corrections. According to its definition it is not optional.

Does anybody even still believe in the fix all modules anymore? I am asking therefore what can the several editions of the game attribute to a core that can please us?

True, but technical definitions and common usage can vary, especially in RPGs.

Seriously, though, you should check out the PbP Haven.  You might also like Real Adventures, IF you're cool.

Are you telling me that "errata" does not mean "list of errors and corrections" at WotC?

I have been playing P.F. as of late ( snicker)which includes some dailies and powers for casters, my Cleric for example and I really like how that functions. Do you guys like that? Orisons also exsists in P.F. as do 0) level frebee spells which are fun. Now I was wondering if folks like that sort of thing. i want to do something constructive rather than continue to surf the flood of negativity here.
