Then he would be playing your paladin. Which would not be as fun as he has descirbed it being for him. Do you want to play by other people's moral standards and/or withstand mechanical punishments for such?

I am a firm believer in paladins being Lawful Good.  However, I do believe the Paladin's Code needs to be changed to something much more specific to confirm if Crow's actions really are acceptable of a paladin (e.g. Thou shalt not steal, lie or cheat; thou shalt not slay one unless every other option has been exhausted; etc.).

Saids the guy who thinks paladin who resist Smite On Sight are chaotic evil with some restrains.

I think I am going to sig that post. Just too funny.

Fair enough. Since some people here thinks paladins are champions an idea.
I'll make a paladin that have no mercy and is a pyschopath.

I simply think the Code needs to be defined more thoroughly so that paladins aren't stripped for disagreements (see Crow and I's disagreement).  It should be cut-and-dry so that the paladin knows what they can and can not do.

Now this something I can agree.

Lawful Good restriction and a Code of Conduct that is clear as water and only takes his powers take he does something extreme like murdering innocents, lying, cheating, etc.

Definitely cut-and-dry.  That is why I am so afraid of playing a paladin in anything except 4e.  I am a Tier 4 Class that is bound by a very "iffy" rule that can turn me into a fighter without feats--less than worthless.

We can make our own code of conduct.

You must protect and serve the innocents. *Care for the weak*
You must never cheat. *Your actions are true*
You must never lie. *And your words are also true*

3 simple rules. Easy to remember and cut-and-dry enough where the DM can't shut you down.

Your powers come from your heart. If you disgrace yourself to the point where you can't even call yourself a paladin, then your heart is not in the right place(lose your powers).
If you can redeem yourself, recover your reputation, and set your heart on the right path then your powers are back. Your image is important, don't ruin by breaking those 3 rules.

Wow. Crow, got no problem with the stuff you put up regarding paladin behavior.

Isn't it funny though how fast other people are to cry foul when you didn't even take an action in the post? Hilarious.

And that is the real cusp of the "problem" with Paladins...its problems with DMs wanting to LOOK for things to call out the paladin on.

You could always put exceptions (e.g. the greater good exception).

Honestly--the Greater Good Exception would be perfect.
