I'm still not seeing the point...this is the third time I have asked...I wonder if I'll get an answer this time.
Anyway, if they don't make the game exactly how I want it to be (and I'm talking every single detail down to the individual words used for flavor and fluff), well, that would be a major dealbreaker.
Ooops, forgot to put the sarcasm tags up.
Well if you quit ignoring my posts that are filled with answers and quit discounting the answers you don't like, maybe you would get an answer.
I'm doing it because its an important thing the developers need to consider. They need to get the feedback on their own polls so they can see for themselves how each packet might do in the market.
Now next time I'll probably word it better, but the idea will be the same. How should I phrase it next time?
"If the final product of 5E resembled this packet and was built on its assumptions and style, would you purchase it?"
I don't remember ever seeing you give a direct answer like this before. If you did, and I missed it, I am sorry.
I could be wrong, but I think the designers ARE considering this. It is the entire point (in fact, the ONLY point) of doing a big, open playtest like this: to design the game in the best possible way. Asking this doesn't give them any helpful information. It doesn't, for example, tell them WHAT, specifically, would people need to see before they would buy it.
Of course they know that most people wouldn't buy the current playtest rules. They are playtest rules. Unfinished. Incomplete. And we all know that a new packet is on the way!
Even after your answer, I'm going to echo Wrecan's post: "Yes for certain definitions of "cleaned up" and No for others. Really, I have no idea what the results of this poll are intended to show? It's like a giant self-fulfilling Rohrschach Test. "

The part of 5e I would even consider paying for is a minor refinement of the first packet.

I don't think it's reasonable to treat this like a scientific poll.
It's a snapshot of opinion.
I voted no. They developers have my feedback already.
I will say that I have moved from "I hate this!" to "I don't like this" to "I really don't like this."
So, all in all, there's been 2 steps forward and 1 back. For me.

If they can get you to step to the side you will be on your way to dancing the Foxtrot!

I voted yes, assuming "cleaned up" includes adding classes, races, monsters, levels, etc. I like the core game so far, although there have been some steps back.

My favourite edition, mechanically, so far, especially that 1st packet.

Yes, and the math was better.

That is a much better way of wording it. Run with it good sir!

I voted yes because the rancor and hyperbole by many of the posters on any thread such as this is and will be silly. There's nothing quite as amusing as a nerd in the passionate throes of nerd angst writhing around in a froth of frustrated sweat and geek smugness. I especially like comments about cutting off fingers and never buying any DnD products, which does indeed render a person's opinion moot. Why would they market to someone who isn't a paying customer? But most silly of all is why would I pay for something I can get for free right now. Pretty pictures are fine when you're a tween, but I'm more concerned with the system, and that's shaping up to be very pretty indeed.
And now for the lokiare finish...
I'll totally buy their products if they're good. That's exactly who they are trying to market toward, the fans that have been set aside, and the fans they have now. What I won't buy, is garbage, and that's exactly what the current playtest version demonstrates. If that's their foundation, they can keep their game. By telling them this, I'm giving them the opportunity to fix their errors. Now, what the hell is that last line about, exactly? Who cares about pictures and how pretty they are, exactly, and why? What are you trying to say?
It was a response to, I believe Lokiare, in regards to if the book was cleaned up and had it's pictures and final formatting, etc. IE a finished product. And saying something is garbage without qualification or definition means nothing and is in fact the hyperbole I was talking about. Who buys something they think is garbage anyway? Why is that an argument for anything?
Lokiare finish, with a twist...

The current packet has a lot of issues, which really need to be fixed. This is how I currently see the thing standing.
Core System: Strength checks still don't feel right. The fact that an 18 strength barbarian only has a small edge over a 10 strength halfling in a contest of strength never made sense to me. 2nd edition ability checks were flat out better. Monsters: Monsters are still crazy weak. Magic Items: No complaints here. I love what they did with magic items. Classes: No multiclassing yet? Spells: Direct damage spells seem to have the opposite problem they had in earlier editions. Instead of totally sucking at low level, they're awesome at level 1 and then scale poorly from there. Cone of cold is just pathetic. Save or die spells just scale way too well on the other hand. Races: Passable.
