I started playing the Blue Box (Basic) D&D version and later 1st edition AD&D after reading the Hobbit in the late 70s. I still remember all the hours spent hauling around my books, like they were gold, enjoying the time spent reading them and playing the game with friends and strangers. I stopped playing after 2e..just did not feel like the same old game. Now that reprints of the core rule books and many adventure modulars are in print, or will soon be, I along with MANY old timers along with newer players started playing all over again!
