This thread isn't for things in the playtest packet, or even things discussed at all. It's for new things that you've always wanted to see, but haven't seen the way you imagined it.

For example, I want an entirely at-will Wizard. Not 'simple' just at-will. I want a few weak spells (getting more as I level), that I can use as often as I want. I don't mind if I still have to prepare them ahead of time, or if I have a couple encounter/dailies/rituals, I just want a predominately at-will wizard.

It could be a wizard tradition. I might only be able to prepare level 0/1 spells, but I could use them at-will.

Fun thread.   I want martial practices that can compete in awesomeness with rituals.  No idea how, I just want it.

I'll play along; here's my short list.

I want the monk class to include an option to recreate the kensai from the old Oriental Adventures.

I want elves to gain weapon finesse in longswords instead of an increase of hit die as an option.

I want bladesinger option in the game.  This one better make into the game.  This one is actually the closest thing to deal breaker for me.

I want to play a smart fighter (actually just a warrior type with a brain) that is as effective as a dumb brute.

I want elves, halfings and other races to be as appealing as humans and dwarves in this edition.

I want every character to have comparable abilities in and out of combat.  I really started to dislike the "I suck in combat and you can't roleplay out of combat because I pwn non-combat" players/characters near the end of the 3.0 cycle.

I want my character to feel meaningful without being overtop like 4e.

I want character diversity at tables, but not the over the top diversity of having an undead, gnoll, warforge, orc, minotaur and a lone human at every Living Campaign table near the end of the LFR cycle.

I want DMs to feel empowered to create good stories even though the majority of DMs are still going to be just crap.  (On a side note, I would like to find another good DM, haven't seen one since 3rd edition.  I know, WotC actually has no control over that one).

I want the druid to go back to its Celtic roots and stop being some bastardized tree hugger.

I want kensei too!

I want dual-wielding paladins, sword-and-board rangers, swashbuckling fighters, and unarmed rogues.

I want options to play an archer effectively as a sniper rather than a machine gun.

I want wizards that feel like they can do anything, but don't break the game because they can't do everything.

I want a firearms module that goes beyond a little extra weapons table.

I want new players to be able to create effective characters without excessive handholding or being intimidated by the rules and options.

I want experienced players to be able to optimize their characters and be rewarded for their efforts without overshadowing the rest of the party.

I want quick-and-easy rules for flying and 3D combat that don't just pretend everything is a hummingbird.

I want vehicular combat to be exciting rather than a chore.

I want an edition in which races are not defined by mechanical adjusments that create unbreakable stereotypes. Not all elves are good with swords and bows; not all dwarves are good with axes; not all halflings are dexterous; and so on. Your race should give you a pool of options from which to choose. Because you chose this race, you can pick X of these options, which represents a pool of skills, abilities and proficiencies a character of your race would most likely have picked up as a member of your chosen race. Then, like a fighter's fighting style or the codified backgrounds and specialties, you could have a couple of iconic racial packages for each race, each representing things like 'high elf', 'wood elf', 'lightfoot halfling' and so on. Give humans a similar but more general list of options and stop just making them the race that gets the best ability score bonus.

I want a Gandalf-esque wizard that uses very few spells (but uses those to great effect), and fights with a melee weapon most of the time.

I want to see the end of characters being given double bonuses and double penalties for choosing a class. A fighter with a high strength can get an even higher bonus to strength checks with Mighty Exertion. Why? He already has a high strength, which should make him better than most at feats of strength. Why should an 18 strength fighter trained in climb be better at climbing than an 18 strength cleric trained in climb? Same thing with an 18 dex fighter in leather armor trained in stealth against an 18 dex rogue trained in stealth. The rogue wins because of Skill Mastery. But those maneuvers are just arbitrary double bonuses to reinforce the fighterness or rogueness of a fighter or rogue. Same thing with the 16 con fighter with his d10 hit dice against the 10 con wizard with his d4 d6 hit dice. One class is rewarded twice for being a typical member of his class, while the other is penalized doubly.

Also, I want rangers and paladins to be prestige classes or paragon paths or whatever they use this time. To me, those titles are something you should earn, not something you should just decide to be at first level.

I want options to advance my magic-item-less chracter, through general levelling and specific quests, that makes him as powerful and versatile as a character-- in the same campaign-- who is magically blinged-out (magic armor, magic weapon, magic rings, belt of giant strength, etc).

A spell-point mage that doesn't have mandated level-based spell slots. If I want to cast four 9th-level spells, and I have the points to do it even if it means that's all I cast for that period, I can. If I want to cast nine fireballs as 3rd, 5th, 6th, etc. level, I can. If I want to cast nothing but 1st-level magic missiles all day, I can.

A multiclassing system that will let me pick and choose the abilities from each class rather than the mechanics telling me what I must have or cannot have. It should allow me to build exactly the character concept I want.

De-couple mechanics from specific settings. The core rules should be completely setting-neutral.

The rules written with the simplest rules as "core" and anything more involved or complicated as optional rules, but still included in the PHB/DMG.
In memory of wrecan and his Unearthed Wrecana.

5e should strongly stay away from "I don't like it, so you can't have it either."

I want sea-faring to work. PC's actions on a ship must contribute to overall sailing/combat operations.

I want a 2E Skills and Powers module, allowing for power, to hit, and Hit Die variations as well as advantages/restrictions within each class.

I wish the return of the template classes from the articles "Savage Progresion" in the official web.

When a animal can be a familiar (monkey, snake, little dinosaur...) the stats block will be published in the same article. I don´t want look for a Dragon article to find it.

I want knight, gladiator, samurai, ninja, sohei, kensai, sha´ir... like core classes.

I wish all monster humanoids (low level) were studied like future PC race.

The return of brainstealer dragon, and other dragons like sun, star, moon, pearl, jade...

Linnords with age categories like true dragons (and linnords from second edition), and vampires and lord mummies too.

* I suggest the name "psiloi" to be used by psichyc warriors.

I don´t like the name "swordmage", I would rather duskblade or hexblade.

Swashbuckler could be the name of a core class, the recycled warsage from "Tome of Magic" (no only fighter without armour and shield, but user of ki maneuvers).

The vestiges from "Tome of Magic" was a interesting idea.

* I don´t like the name "witch doctor". I would rather "hougan" (or mambo if the character if female), or sangoma.
"Say me what you're showing off for, and I'll say you what you lack!" (Spanish saying)
