the title says the question; what race do you love to fancy that is not considered a "standard" race from D&D 3.5. subraces/variants are allowed like skulcrusher ogres vs regualr ogres.
for me i love lizardfolks in general (all of the subraces and variants are fun) but when i play a dnd game i go with either a poison dusk lizardfolk when i am playing a sneaky character (once had a rogue poisondusk that hid at night to sleep and was a merc with the group that made fun of the melee characters) or i will go with a regular lizardfolk for any other role in the party.
i just wish that they would make a little booklet or something about lizardfolk races for a few different climates or something, details about their religion and semuyana, their society as a hole and any other cool little facts that they want to add like race specific prestiege calsses, feats and items.
well i am curious if anyone will psot what they think of lizardfolks or any other race that tickles their fancy.

Technically, this is off-topic for this part of the boards, and at least one person here is going to remind you of that a bit more rudely.
I don't really care about that rule, though. I've always really liked hobgoblins, as a DM. They're clever and organized, enough so that they've developed into one of three or four major imperialistic powers in my setting (heavy Imperial Chinese themes, with a bit of Rome and antebellum South.) They're also usually characterized as militarily proficient and somewhat honorable compared to a lot of the general villainous races, which helps them make good antagonists. And, of course, they work reasonably well with ToB classes, besides the level adjustment of the MM version.

Lizardfolks suck. Otterpeople are awesom4e. Also, this is totally the wrong place for this type of post. Take it to one of the D&D related forums.

Goliaths and half-giants are my favorites, though I'm also a big fan of the shifter, warforged, kalashtar, and even blue.

I played a blue once... he got chased out of a town for setting someone's roof on fire (in my defense, they were kinda a jerk). Then he got into a grapple check with a hell hound. It didn't end well for him.
... that was a fun campaign. Sure, we went through characters fast sometimes, but goodness was it fun doing it.

All races in 3.5 were dumb, especially the non-standard ones (subraces included)

Howdy folks,
I have moved this thread to the Previous Editions General forum where it is more on-topic.
Thanks.

Not if it's a wereboar.
Probably Azurin, because they're as awesome as Humans, but also Incarnum (so more awesome).
That's more of a mechanical thing, though. Fluff-wise, it's hard to say; there are a lot of cool ones. Probably the Changelings are the first which spring to mind.
