Hello all,
Checking the MM3, page 80, I find this interesting little piece of information:
"Any spellcaster who wants to dabble in the summoning and binding of elementals entities first start with these simple elemental creatures. Although the ritual required to summon them is easy, the one used to bind them in servitude is more complex"
I have been looking for the aforementioned rituals and cannot find them in any of my books. Does anyone know if these have been described anywhere?

It's fluff. There is no mechanical ritual as far as I know to summon an elemental. There is one that can summon a demon into a specially prepared circle but that's a rather high level ritual.
