Assured healing (appeared on Dragon 379) says that if you miss with a divine power with the healing keyword which has no effect on a miss (like Astral Seal), you can heal your Char modifier to yourself or an ally within 5 squares.

My question is: do healing modifiers apply to this amount healed? I mean if a PC is equipped with healer's brooch and mace of healing, which do not require surges to be expended, do their modifiers apply?

Thanks.

Unless your Divine Power restores hit points as an Effect, the Healer's Brooch and the Weapon of Healing won't do anything because their Property only work for hit points restored by powers, not feat.

A Healer's Shield would work on the hand.

Weapon of Healing: When you use a power that restores hit points to an ally, add an item bonus equal to this weapon’s enhancement bonus to the amount restored.

Healer's Brooch: When you use a power that enables you or an ally to regain hit points, add the brooch’s enhancement bonus to the hit points gained.

Excellent. Another small question...with the updated version of the Gloves of the Healer, does the d6 extra dice apply to the power of the gloves themselves?  The creature that expends a healing surge and the creature which gets the healing must be the same in order to get the extra healing granted by the gloves (and by other objects like healer's armor) ?

The Gloves of the Healer's Power can't benefit from on its own Property because the Power it has doesn't let you spend a healing surge to regain hit points, it let you spend one to give an ally some hit points. You can't regain extra hit points if you don't (spend a healing sure and) regain hit points in the first place.

Property: When you use a power that lets one or more creatures spend a healing surge to regain hit points, one target regains an extra 1d6 hit points.

Power: Spend a healing surge. An adjacent ally regains hit points equal to the value of the healing surge you lost.

EDIT Addendum Because Gloves of the Healer's Power is poorly worded, by a strict RAW it would in fact benefit from its own Property because the Power doesn't say you do not regain hit points when spending the healing surge like Lay On HandsNever AgainSynostodweomerStave Off Winter, and Death Ward state for exemple and therefore the wearer regain hit points plus an extra 1d6 hit points and an adjacent ally regains hit points equal to your value of the healing surge.

As a DM i won't let that stand, the text specifies "lost" at the end so it's safe to assume that the HS spent should have no effect on the wearer.

I don't think any DM would let that go as its clearly not intended. Wink
