The biggest problem with dnd is that some cool concepts for characters (ie dual weilding scythes) is either undoable, too cheesy, or has too many negatives for it to be even considered viable let alone optimized now mind you the race (which I do love) is a fix are there stat adjustments on the race?

Andarious-Rosethorn: That's not what I was saying.  To be honest, I think they just said longsword because it's such a common weapon.  Nevertheless, you can use Monkey Grip to wield a greatsword (or other large weapon) one-handed as a medium character (technically).

draco1119: It says "This feat may be taken multiple times, each time with a different weapon."  In case there is a different version out there that I don't know about, I'm looking at page 7 of 'Sword and Fist'.

frost.fire: I agree, but sometimes it's fun to just do something ridiculous if the game isn't meant to be serious.

Sword and fist is a 3.0 book. Monkey Grip is in Complete Warrior (I think) in 3.5.

Complete Warrior, for 3.5.  The other difference between the two is that weapons are sized by creature size, and then separated into "weightclasses" of light, one-handed, and two-handed.  The way it's written in 3.5, a Medium creature (i.e human) could wield a Large longsword (made for, say, an ogre) as a one-handed weapon.  A Large longsword =/= a Medium greatsword, which is a two-handed weapon.

And that's why I mentioned the book I was looking at.  I'm always thinking 3.0 'cause that's all I have for the most part, but realistically there's always that sense of unknowing about what's been changed once you expand the library to past 3.0.  I guess the real decisive factor, then, would be what edition you're using.

True; I, by default, assume 3.5.  Partly because that's what I started with (well, skipped from 2e to 3.5), and partly because that's the most common edition people ask about on here.

With the 4-armed feature of the Diopsid race I should be able to successfully dual-wield scythes once the appropriate 2-weapon feats have been taken... Right?
(As previously mentioned, I'm very new to dual-wielding the rules around it)

Yes, though, to be honest... I'm not entirely sure whether you would need TWF or Multi-Weapon fighting.

Two-Weapon Fighting-- Diopsid can't use multi-weapon fighting because their lower limbs are too weak and for two-weapon fighting they don't need to meet the Dexterity requirement, which is a nice benefit.  It's definitely an interesting race, kind of Thri-kreen light.

Given that you don't need the Dexterity requirements, I would go with a class other than Ranger probably.  Tome of Battle is always nice, so you might want to consider going Warblade and focusing upon Tiger Claw maneuvers.

Random thought on the subject - any way to be a Diopsid and still qualify as an Elf?
