So i have to do a Problem/Solution or Cause/Effect research paper (about 5 pages) for English class. I plan on doing mine on Dungeons and Dragons, i was thinking about doing it on how D&D helped shape the world of today, how it "changed the world" i got the idea after seeing the D&D documentary kickstarter. If anyone has any better ideas on a research paper on D&D following the format that it has to follow, or can point me in the direction of good websites that will give me a ton of research on the topic i listed above, or even just comment your opinion on it, i can site that haha.

Thanks
Stragen

You'll get more feedback if you post this in the D&D general forum.

Partly because here we are mostly jaded and sarcastic.

Howdy Stragen8,

I have moved this thread to a general discussion forum where, hopefully, it will get the kind of feedback you are looking for.  Good luck with your project.

No problem, the forum seperation can be confusing at times.

D&D inspired various text based online games when the internet was not well known.  Those text based online games inspired the first few MMORPGs, which inspired the newer MMOs.  All three types of online games gave many people from around the world to game together and learn more about each others cultures.

D&D provided a way for many super smart nerds to socialize with other nerds, which likely helped them be more successful entrepreneurs when they launched assorted high tech companies.  You will need some google searches to identify which famous entrepreneurs were gamers.

That's cool, writing a report on D&D. if you don't mind my asking, what grade are you in? i'm a junior in high School, and I haven't written a paper on D&D yet. Yet.

D&D has also proven to be a popular pastime among U.S. soldiers who are overseas. I wish I could direct you to a link, but I forgot where I read about it.

Also, you might choose to include the growth of the player base and evolution of the game itself as part of the paper. It might help to give the rest of your points more context.
You should totally post the paper on here after you finish writing it. I'd love to brush up on my DnD history and influence. Good luck!
