I know that Dungeon Command is very new, and that players are just now getting familiar with it.  Scouring the internet though, everything I can find just talks about the game as buying one copy of a box set and saying that's that.  I haven't been able to find a community or website devoted to warband construction and play.  It feels like everyone is treating this like a board game when I feel like it should be treated more like M:TG or even the original D&D Minis.

Am I missing a community?

You might find this preview article about warband building in DC helpful: www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/4...

I just think the number of players is much lower than, for example, in the Magic the Gathering community.

Dan,
The game is still very young. There has been some discussion on this board and onn BGG about custom warbands, but at this point it's still new. I'm part of the largest gaming club in the world, and I find myself teaching the game to new people every week. There are only a small number of people who customize their warbands at this point in time locally. It will take time to go from "playing the base sets" to "competitive play".

Chris,
Could you post your draft rules for the WOTC league? I'd like to try that when Tyranny of Goblins is released. Thanks

What DC will need to grow is a Star City Games equivalent, a place with interesting strategy articles which sales singles/boxes and organizes tournaments.  The speed that WotC seems to be planning on releasing new sets seems like a website could support this model.
