And we were told definately they read everything going on here at the keep as well as their boards and others. They hear what we are saying and they are listening.

Really? I am surprised by this news... I knew they were aware of us, but I had no idea they actually checked out the commentary here.

You can believe it my furry little friend, we do matter.

Now to try and prove it I'm going to try and paraphrase what Ed said about this very thing, dangerous for me since I showed up after work, didn't leave too til after 12:30am...and then drove home, slept 4 hours and have worked all day!

Ed said wotc knew they had three masters to consider when making this move and number 1 was taking care of the large base of long time fans/customers and making us happy....and darn if I can remember the last two! I'm sure one of my friends on attendance can pick me up and finish my partial memory

I'm particularly interested in learning more about this.

While I've always suspected that Wizards' has had one of it's special little eyes on us [given the regular presence of such Realms luminaries like Ed and such], I'd like to know how they feel about Candlekeep, generally.

Something else that should interest you. When the discussion about The website that is going to be rolled out is going to have everything about the realms ever published available in PDF form....Ed brought up a product he had write with the expectation of 96 pages.he was asked to cut I down to 32 pages of which one was an ad. (i really wish i had taken notes, Haunted Halls of Eveningstar I think it was)  Ed asked if we would have interest if something like that was made available in it original form. Of course almost every hand shot up. Ed was then asked by " a decision maker" if he would rather make available a restored "directors cut" or a re-imagined version. I believe Ed thought a re-imagining would be much fun to do.

So truly, every option is on the table.

A DIRECTOR'S CUT OF THE HAUNTED HALLS?!?!?!?![:H]

Colour me surprised... and extremely pleased!
My approach to the NPCs of previous editions.
Spoiler: Show
I always saw the High Level NPCs as shepherds of the Realms not its defenders. Making sure that not too many sheep were lost as they milled around (as they are wont to do) and bringing on the young'uns into the job. In that way a shepherd never has time to go and hunt down all of the wolves but is pretty dashed effective at keeping them away from the sheep when they rear their heads.

Until you've had an in-law tell you your choice of game was stupid, and just Warcraft on paper, and dumbed down for dumber players who can't handle a real RPG, you haven't lived.

You haven't lived.

Lady and gentlemen.... I present to you the Edition War without Contrition, the War of the Web, the Mighty Match-up!

We're using standard edition war rules.  No posts of substance.  Do not read the other person's posts with comprehension.  Make frequent comparison to video games, MMOs, and CCGs.  Use the words "fallacy" and "straw man", incorrectly and often.  Passive aggressiveness gets you extra points and asking misleading and inflammatory questions is mandatory.  If you're getting tired, just declare victory and leave the thread.  Wait for the buzzer... and....

One, two, three, four, I declare Edition War
Five, six, seven eight, I use the web to

Go!

D&D should not return to the days of blindfolding the DM and players. No tips on encounter power? No mention of expected party roles? No true meaning of level due to different level charts or tiered classes? Please, let's not sacrifice clear, helpful rules guidelines in favour of catering to the delicate sensibilities of the few who have problems with the ascetics of anything other than what they are familiar with.

Just a quick note on the MMORPG as an insult comparison...

MMORPGs, raking in money by the dumptruck full.  Many options, tons of fans across many audiences, massive resources allocated to development.

TTRPGs, dying product.  Squeaking out an existence that relys on low cost.  Fans fit primarily into a few small demographics.  R&D budgets small, often rushed to market and patched after deployment.

You're not really making much of an argument when you compare something to a MMORPG and assume people think that means bad.  Lets face it, they make the money, have the audience and the budget.  We here on this board are fans of TTRPGs but lets not try to pretend none of us play MMORPGs.

This is not complicated.

Telling someone to move over a few feet is magical now? :|

I weep for this generation.

Given the laziness and morbid obsesity amongst D&Ders, being able to convince someone to get on their feet, do some heavy exercise, and use their words to make them be healthier must seem magical.

I would love to see a Cormyr Lineage on DDI.

WotC needs to release the rest of the Border Kingdom articles also...

I would pay a large sum of money to see the Haunted Halls of Eveningstar released as Ed intended.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I'd sure like to use a super-spiffed up Haunted Halls in my current Realms game (set in Cormyr).

WotC, count me interested in this.
The Forgotten Realms: It's an ugly baby, but damnit it's our ugly baby.

WotC, please don't wreck the Forgotten Realms a third time in order to introduce the latest version of the D&D rules.

Give us back 3rd Edition's Magic Television concept instead.

DDi is fine for me. I subscribe and, while I have absolutely no interest in the homebrewed fantasy heartbreaker which is D&D Next, I will continue to subscribe to DDi for as long as FR and Dark Sun content continues to be published.

I actually prefer PDFs simply because I have lived in three different countries over the past decade+ and I sometimes live in more than one country at a time. Moving books around is a pain... which is why I am currently building a library on the vacant block next to my latest house to store everything RPG and book related.
