I like this Sorcerer option. It's certainly different from the 3.x/PF Sorcerer.

This is the class I always wanted, something with built in gish, though it still makes the class require Cha & Str/Dex (Cha for spells and the other for martial combat). I've always felt that in a world with magic, a combination between the magic and the mundane would be developed.

Though, I still want more options for the Sorcerer, so that it can be closer to a Wizard for those that want it. Also more gish classes would be welcomed.

Ooh! Ooh! Thought of some possibilities for other bloodlines: Elemental is the blast-all-day type (maybe even that could be modified by which element you pick, Earth more defensive, Fire more offensive, ...), Celestial could be like Mystic Theurge from level 1 (Arcane caster with access to heal spells... so much awesome)

The sorcerer seems crazy powerful from the initial reading, but I suppose I'll see in playtest. It seems he gets as many spells per day as the wizard, plus had cleric hit dice, fighter attack bonus and full armor.

I'm really not seeing a hell of a lot of drawbacks with him, and I've never liked spell point systems, because they allow you to spam your highest level spell over and over again with little penalty.

If you notice, most (if not all) of the Sorcerer's spells and features only relate to combat. Not to mention their tiny amount of learned spells and lack of ritual casting. If they're going to be combat-only, you better be damned they do that right at least.

Well the fighter does that too is the problem, so sorc and fighter need to be balanced against each other. Right now, Sorc seems to be straight up better or equal in all things except hit points. And when the sorc gets his dragon scales, it seems he will be a better damage soaker too.

I agree with the OP, my Sorceror carries a greatsword and has more HP than the fighter (who didn't take Survivor). I'm really looking forward to trying him out.

I will say that there should have been an anouncement about the update; I also found out when I was going through a thread. I don't usually listen to the podcasts, especially the GenCon one since I'm not going to be able to go. I didn't think it would have an alert that there would be a playtest update...

Also, about Dragon Breath, there is absolutely no info about it outside the spell description, so there's no way to tell when you're supposed to get it. I think the most likely possibility would be that the 2nd packet was supposed to go further than 5th level (the Dungeon Master's Guidelines has info for 6th-10th levels), so it was probably one that didn't get removed. It could just as easily be something else, though.

Anyone else think the Dragon Sorcerer is foreshadowing the return of Dragonborn in 5e? I mean, it just screams it to me.

And the Adventure in it is necessary in my book.

Improvisation in 4e: Improv. Attacks(by wrecan) - Fave 4E Improvisations

The Non-combatant Adventurer

Reality is unrealistic - and even monkeys protest unfairness

Dynamic Reflavoring : The Fighter : The Wizard : The Swordmage
Creative Character Collection - Featuring:The Faerie Master - Snow White - Joxer - Ironman - Elric - Bloodwright

By virtue of being a player your characters are the protagonists in a heroic fantasy game even at level one

I am vaguely expecting every race from a phb1.
