If a 9th level druid wildshapes into a Dire Bear, they gain the Improved Grab, yes? So they become grapple maul machines?
So once he grabs someone, assuming the Bear wins the grapple check, the next round he can make one claw attack (at a -4). If he has a high enough base attack bonus to gain an iteritve attack, he may make another attack at the lower attack bonus, with the -4 as well?
Is that correct?
The gnome druid is wildshaping into the Dire Bear, but not grappling. I think he may not be aware he can. I want to have the rules straight before I remind/inform him of his Improved Grab.

Yes, he can Grab. No, he can't gain iterative attacks; unfortunately, natural weapons don't get those. A bear of any sort gets to make a full attack of claw/claw/bite and no more. It doesn't matter if its BAB is +1 or +16, it always gets the three attacks.

I thought the form you took with wild shape's hit die couldn't exceed your druid level? A dire bear has 12 hit die so you have to have 12 or more levels of druid to take that form...

O M GWe skipped over that line. I feel like a schmuck. Boy that explains a lot. Thanks for pointing that out. He's going to be supremely disappointed lol. But it will restore some balance.
Bless you.

He can still change into a Dire Lion. It's not as much of a powerhouse as a Dire Bear, but it still has improved grab and it get pounce! Pounce is fantastic!
