even if its great, its not a reason to quit playing 4th

Isn't amazing though, how many people can't grasp that concept?

Eh, the 2nd playtest is way better than the 1st.

Even still, it has a long, long way to go before I'd consider moving over my primary campaign.

My group is still playing War of the Burning Sky from ENPublishing, and we fully intend to finish the campaign. We're taking time to do the playtest material as it comes out, but when we decide that we've done enough, we go back to our old campaigns. When 5e is finally done...be that in 2013 or 2014...then we'll talk about campaigns in that system.

My group wrote it off after the 2nd playtest was released. Most of them have no interested in looking at DDN anymore.

I'd like to playtest it and give feedback, but finding a group to do so might be difficult. The only group I have is a 50 mile drive.

I play DD4 since its release and I intend to continue that way. I find it the best edition so far (have played all the others and had fun with all of them though) and DDN is not taking a step in the right direction to me.

My groups and I have still many things to try in DD4 for it to last many years.

I played the first playtest of DDN and was largely disappointed. It felt a big step back and combats were chaotic at best (reminded me of previous editions). I like the tactical aspect of DD4 and the way each class can shine on the battlefield (even the one that does no damage at all like the pacifist cleric).

So yes I'll keep playing DD4 !

My players and I are right in the middle (Level 16) of a 4e campaign.  We enjoy it, and will keep it going as a 4e game until its done.

After that, the next campaign is likely to be Pathfinder.  Or 4e again.  I am not impressed with what they have released of he thext editio... er, "iteration."  If I wanted to play something that felt more like older D&D, I would just take the older books off shelves.

I am hopeful that D&DNext is going to be awesome. But it's not a finished product...in fact it's not anything close to a finished product. My understanding is that it'll be debuted at GenCon 2014. (Hmm...I might have to go to that.) I'm not dropping 4E to play an alpha-test version of D&DNext. I might play it as a one-shot, but not as a campaign.

My best case scenario for D&DNext, that the finalized rules are something my players and I are seriously intrigued by, will have me running a campaign that is a sequel to the campaign world I'm running now, set some decades into the future. But I want that world to be deeply shaped by the events of the current world. And the story of those heroes isn't close to done yet.

I told my friend exactly this a few hours ago. i'm perfectly happy with 4e. i don't need retro D&D. Just give me monsters to fight and treaure to horde.

I fight for freedom. I fight for justice. I fight for honor. I fight for VENGEANCE.Beware, all you monsters, all you villains, for you have unleashed the wrath of Edward Darkforest. May your god have pity on your soul.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Well, the current news is that we have 2 years of 4e, which is more than a lot of us thought we had a year ago.  So stick with your 4e plans for now.

Sadly I am inclined to believe that if they think it wil sell, they will rush it out early.
