Personal opinion...

I have a soft spot for the AD&D 2nd Edition boxed set Council of Wyrms, so I'd like to see player character dragons.    :D

Definitely, I think most of us would love to be able to play as a dragon or half dragon from the get go.

Yes, I love Dark Sun.

It has to be original (1992) Dark Sun.

The d12 & d4 given prominant, essential, uses to rival that of the d20.

The thing that i think is most far fetched but I would get the most use out of is a race customization book like Pathfinder put out.  I enjoy making my own worlds.  I buy most of what is put out but get irritated when I am unconfident things i change to fit my setting are unbalanced.  Heck, i hope they do the same with monsters and spells but I think WotC fears that if they provide too much information on how to customize within their rules we won't buy more products.

You're not thinking Far-fetched enough. I want to see rules on how to create my own racial creation rules, maybe even not give us those, but give us racial creation-creation-creation rules, so we can create rules that guide DMs to craft rules that allow them to make their own racial creation rules.

I am currently raising funds to run for President in 2016. Too many administrations have overlooked the international menace, that is Carmen Sandiego. I shall devote any and all necessary military resources to bring her to justice.

so why even play a fighter if you can play the paladin the exact same way behaviorally and get added power to boot. "Paladin" is about accepting better game-enhancing mechanics at the price of more rigid in game behavior.

Really?  So it goes something like this?

Fighter: "I want to be a paladin."
NPC: "Really?"
Fighter: "Yes."
NPC: "Very well."  Starts reading from a holy book while still in-character "Do you accept having to choose and stick to the lawful good alignment, eventhough neither of us actually knows that it exists or what it is?"
Fighter: "I do."
NPC: "Do you reject good game balance because you accidentally rolled a high Charisma?"
Fighter: "What?"
NPC: "I don't know what it means either."
Fighter: "Oh.  Umm, ok I do."
NPC: "In the name of all that is metagamey and broken, accept these better game enhancing mechanics."
Fighter: "These what?"
NPC: "Just get out there and try to fulfill a million different people's notion of good while not violating and part of any of them."

taking an argument too far Show

So the system is designed such that every single hit needs to be described to avoid confusion?  Here's a scenario.  The players are nudists, everybody in the world are nudists, it's not weird, it's totally normal in this land.  They are naked and they fight drakes taking damage throughout, but healing up with surges.  Later they meet the guy who raised the drakes.

Part 1:  I didn't describe any of the hits.  What does he see?

Part 2:  Lets say I described the drakes as biting the players, yet they healed up.  What does he see?

A Batman class! To resolve all of those debates on "how would you create Batman as a D&D character?"

Also, to play as Batman.
I don't use emoticons, and I'm also pretty pleasant. So if I say something that's rude or insulting, it's probably a joke.

No, I meant Shadowfell. The Shadowfell was a 4e addition. It featured a city called Gloomwraught that is something like a cross between the Ravenloft and the Planescape settings. I LOVE the boxed set (one of the few 4e products with flavor that is as good as that seen in the 2e days). Where Ravenloft, at least early Ravenloft, is more "classic heroes who stand against the undefeatable darkness" in tone, the Shadowfell setting is more "dark and gothic horror in a city which is home to dark and gothic horrors." It is the sort of setting where vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and the people who hunt them might end up in an inn drinking together (sort of like in Planescape, only with angels, devils, and demons). All in all, a very cool setting. It was also one of the later 4e products, so I would love to see mechanical support for it with the early 5e material (in the form of dark/gothic class/race/theme features).

Yes, Shadowfell setting is awesome. Easily the best (new) thing happened in 4E on the lore side. I'd love to see it moving forward in the new edition.

They just renamed The Plane of Shadow, and gave it some eyeliner.
