I own the Rules Cyclopedia and the Wrath of the Immortals boxed set in immaculate condition. I bought them back in the 1990's and I never played Basic D&D. I bought them just to read. I think I was curious about the Immortals concept. Two players in my group used to play BECMI D&D a long time ago. They missed the hardcover book and was just mentioning today how they would buy a reprint of the Rules Cyclopedia or a grand BECMI boxed set reprint in a heartbeat. We also talked about how the $150 Original D&D boxed set is coming out in November. Everyone thought that the OD&D boxed set was overpriced and wouldn't find much if any real play. Also noted the missing Book #5 as a serious flaw for such a huge price/undertaking. There is a lot of folks still using BECMI D&D. It has to be more than the OD&D crowd. There would actually be a good chance of us playing a retro BECMI game if the Rules Cyclopedia was reprinted or a single BECMI boxed set with the last most up-to-date versions of the individual booklets in those separate boxed set included in one box. That would be worth $100 without a fancy wood box. Especially if it included several sets of old school and not fancy dice and character sheets. While I wouldn't buy a Rules Cyclopedia reprint because I own it in great condition I think that half of my group would. Even I would buy a single box collection of the BECMI booklets however. We all play only fourth edition currently by the way. While I fancied the notion of playing AD&D again for a retrograde fun experience the rest of my group seems more interested in doing that with Basic D&D instead. The Rules Cyclopedia would actually get used by some and collected by others. Where the OD&D wood box will be collected by a few and used by even less.

Adding my voice to those who want a re-print of the BECMI/Rules Cyclopedia ruleset
I started with Basic, and later moved-on to 2e. I want a hard copy for myself, but it's completely overpriced on Ebay.

Please WotC, reprint this!

My friend was considering buying the the first two PDFs listed on the DnDClassic.com website for basic until we noticed it was the earlier 1981 versions. I also noticed that none of the 1983+ versions of BECMI are available. Are they going to become available? He might buy high quality printable PDFs of the 1983 Frank Mentzer BECMI if they became available and I would buy them as premium reprinted booklets since I don't have the originals.

I'm going to bump this to say that I would also definitely buy the Rules Cylcopedia, or honestly any of the D&D line, Metzner, Moldvay or otherwise.  The incomplete nature of the DnDClassic releases has been very disappointing but I'd love a reprint even more!

Personally, I'm expecting this to happen at some point in the next year. I would rather see a grand box of the BECMI booklets, but the RC is good too.

Interesting side note: my old high school group, back in the early 90s, used to convert the immortal quest & rules (found in both the Master & Immortals boxes, respectively) to our 2e games. While it was a bit overpowred, it was incredible fun, and good memories and laughs are still shared amongst us.
I prefer 2nd Edition AD&D. But I have played basic, 1E, 2E, 3.5, & 4E, and found all to be fun.

IF IT'S D&D, I'LL PLAY IT, NO MATTER THE EDITION.

Just roll some dice.
