I was running 2 different playtest groups, and both of them essentially went on strike and demanded to go back to 4E.  Given their response, I decided maybe there is a better solution than yet another D&D edition.

So I Posted a blog last night with a proposal to WotC to consider an alternative to publishing another edition of D&D.  There is a link to a petition and I’m hoping to get support from those in the D&D community who are not favoring D&D Next to sign on.

Please check out the blog here
A Proposal & Petition: Say YES to DUNGEONS & DRAGONS / Say NO THANKS to D&D NEXT!

Um, guys, I'm like really looking forward to D&D Next and would appreciate it if you didn't try to destroy it.  No matter how apologetic you try to be this is still equivalent to spitting in the dev's faces.  The past editions of D&D are in their final state, if they are what you like then by all means play them.  Wotc, this is just the kind of thing that's bound to happen--your hard work on D&DN is  very much appreciated, keep it up!

So far, my players have been enjoying the game. I can't wait until we can put another session together and get the rest of the players in on it.
Playtest or get off the playtest boards.

I don't think anyone is truly out to destroy DnDNext. We're just doing what the developers asked us to do. Come in with our feedback on our experiences with the playtest material. Its a very valid question, whether or not people are having trouble getting others to continue to play the playtest packet. If you can't get them to playtest it after 1 or 2 attempts, that shows that the game isn't drawing people in and a major change needs to occur.

Yes, some people are having a great time with the packet. They give their feedback as well. If on the other hand, someone has their players going on strike until they go back to X Edition instead, that is also very significant overall.

I am supremely hopeful for DnDNext, and love the conceptual goals, I just don't like the current execution whatsoever. I'm giving it every chance I can, and I eagerly await the next playtest packet, because I fear I won't get any more testing done on this packet...its burned too many players so far.

Did you read the above proposal?  It literally is a petition to scrap D&DN.

There's no reason they couldn't implement proposals for continued support of other editions even if DDN goes forward. Besides, what are you really worried about? I signed it because I will try something even if it appears futile, but in reality no matter how many players join in, WotC probably isn't going to listen.

I read the proposal. Although I don't really agree with it as a solution, for several reasons, I don't think it automatically kills DnDNext in its execution. They are already going to go forward with DnDNext, too much is invested already in the program. They could, however, do additional support for older editions, which might dovetail nicely with certain modular content of DnDNext once its in its more finished stages.

These solutions aren't all or nothing in their conception.
