Don't know if the OP is still checking on this but I ran a Drow campaign last year, one of the my players was running a Drow Priestess of Lolth who became pregnant.

It was the first time as a DM I'd encountered this situation. So I considered that Drow are a peculiar race who have an unusually strong connection to their patron goddess. And in turn Lolth depends upon the fortunes and loyalty of her people perhaps more strongly than other deities. Drow society is Matriarchial as such all things that are attributed to the feminine are elevated. Motherhood is part of that.

Anyway I decided that when a Drow is pregnant she is particularly close spiritually to the Spider Queen. So quiet opposite of the getting weaker from preganancy. I ruled that Lolth strengthens pregnant females as a way to protect woman while she nutures the sacred line of Lolth's chosen people. So my player was able to function relatively normally and occassionally I even supplied some random divine affects if she became particularly threatened.

Some of you people would do well to acquire a wife and children. You'd be amazed at how wrong you are. I suppose that's what happens when a bunch of men get together to discuss women; they perpetuate myth and misconception. As far as the pregnancy, there are hunter gatherer tribes that, even in our "modern" era, participate alongside men in hunting, whilst thoroughly pregnant. Moreover, most of them rejoin the hunt on the very same day they give birth. I don't think there needs to be any penalties imposed on the Drow. Indigenous history has already more than proved the overwhelming fortitude of a child-bearing woman.

This is a poor misconception to compare indigenous tribes to this situation. First hunting as a group near your village is on a completely different scale then armed combat. A small dear doesn't pull out a battle axe and fight back, it simply is not a comparible situation to armed combat. Seariously tossing a spear at a small pig is not comparible to facing an Orc Warrior with a battle axe.

Secondly, you would do well with educating yourself about those hunter gatherer tribes of our modern era, then you would know of their alarming infant mortality rates, sure the woman hunts while pregnant and rejoins the hunt the day after giving birth, amazing, but only 30 to 40% survive childhood.

Elven pregnacy was two years iirc from the 2e complete guide to elves, not sure the races of the wild had it listed or if races of faerun did.

that said, I'd talk iwth the player and see how he/she/it wants to handle it.

but two years is a long time in both real life and game terms, if the game will end before she should go into labor, than the whole thing is pointless on the pregnacy end of rearing the child/children out of her womb.

if it should end after she does than thats still between the pc and dm and rule 0 would apply in which make it longer....

As for the hazards of carrying the unborn child, well tel the player that her character can't do anything risky that would put the child at risk,  no staying all the tiome on the front line on cobat, no sneaking around, no drinking mushroom fermented wine, no this and no that.

she can defend herself if the battle gets to close, she can cast, she can and would still be able to do alot of things as she could before....
a mask everyone has at least two of, one they wear in public and another they wear in private.....
