We had our first session today in my campaign. Things went well, but there were some questions.

One was about monster checks. It's adressed under skills in PHB1, but not all of them. Unless you would call goblins "natural". What skill is used to identify monsters like orcs and trolls?

Orcs, trolls, and goblins all have the Natural keyword, and by definition are Natural creatures.  You use the Nature skill to identify them.
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

Which skill you use for monster knowledge checks is entirely determined by their origin keyword, which is in every creature's stat block. So, yes, goblins, orcs, trolls and most other humanoids, being a naturally occurring (not magically created) species and native to the plane the campaign world is on, are all natural creatures and use the Nature skill for ckecking your knowledge about them.
